As part of Mass Effect's annual N7 Day celebrations, Commander Shepard's male and female voice actors revealed their favorite lines in a new video. This marks one of the many events held during N7 Day 2021 for the critically acclaimed action RPG trilogy by BioWare.
The EA studio offered several special promotions for Mass Effect fans on N7 Day, including a sale for the game’s merchandise on the BioWare Gear Store, as well as Mass Effect 4 teaser poster, with the sequel game having been first announced by a short trailer during The Game Awards 2020.
Speaking to alien race in the Mass Effect series - thus he was effectively insulting himself during the interactions. In Hale's case, one of her favorite female Shepard lines occurs in Mass Effect 2, where an intoxicated Shepard says, “Hell yeah. Put more of the stuff in the.. the thing more stuff goes in.”
Both Meer and Hale revealed that Shepard's signature farewell, “I should go,” used a unique recording each time it appeared in-game. They said the line being repeated so often caused it to become a running joke during recording sessions, and Meer would even say the phrase before taking restroom breaks. The online popularity of the line came as a surprise to Meer, who never imagined it would go on to appear on official game merchandise. However, he knew at the time of recording that the famous line, “I’m Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite store on the Citadel,” was sure to be a hit with players. Previously, the pair reunited along with other Mass Effect cast and crew during N7 Day 2020 as part of a reflecting on their experiences from the beloved series' development.
Another reunion of the two Commander Shepards has given some fun new insight into the making of the Mass Effect games, and it’s heartwarming to see the cast is still so ionate about the series years after the trilogy concluded. Although little is known about the next entry, this hopefully won’t be the last time fans see the voice actors reunite in some capacity, as Mass Effect 4 continues the story from the first three games.
