showrunner Dave Erickson confirmed the writers' room has already been assembled, with renewal confirmation seemingly right around the corner.

Now, Movie Casting PGH has created a Facebook post calling for background extras for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, seemingly confirming the Paramount+ series has been renewed. The post claims filming will start in mid-January 2025, with the casting process for potential actors lasting until May. This means filming for the next season is likely going to take place until at least May 2025, with potential for a longer shoot beyond when extras are needed.

A page on the Movie Casting PGH website reveals extras are being sought in the Greater Pittsburgh area, with no age minimum or maximum on actors that could be involved. Roles include "TOWN LOCALS, SWAT/FBI/COP TYPES, INMATES, DINER PATRONS, GANG (Caucasian, Hispanic, African American) BABIES & more," with 10 to 14 hours of availability per day. Overtime is also available for participating actors who end up on-set for more than 12 hours in a given day. Check out the casting call below:

What Mayor Of Kingstown's New Casting Call Means For Season 4

It Appears The Show Has Been Quietly Renewed

This new casting call for Mayor of Kingstown season 4 confirms the series is going to come back, even if Paramount+ hasn't officially renewed it yet. The casting call highlights the need for extras throughout the episodes, teasing the scope of the story. All that's known is Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) will likely continue his duties as Mayor, keeping the peace between organized crime groups and the police. However, with the major losses sustained in season 3, there's no way of knowing how the show is going to develop moving forward.

As for its production schedule, it appears extras will be cast through late May, indicating a rather lengthy production for the series. Season 3 began filming on January 10, 2024, and premiered six months later on June 2, a quick turnaround that seems unlikely for season 4 if its production is going to happen over five months. While the cast of Mayor of Kingstown nor its creators have spoken about the episodes, this filming schedule suggests a much larger season to come that will make filming a lengthier process.

Our Take On Mayor Of Kingstown's Season 4 Casting Call

The Show's Popularity Is Keeping It Alive

It's not too surprising Mayor of Kingstown managed to get a quiet renewal, as the series remains one of the more popular Taylor Sheridan-created TV shows on Paramount+. Season 3 was aided by being Renner's first role following his snow plow accident in 2023, no doubt helping bolster the series' popularity in the process. With extras already being sought for season 4, it probably won't be long until there's official confirmation about the show's return.
