Over the last 15 years, the MCU has introduced several different superheroes who often get more than one costume with every new appearance. While some superhero suit designs strive to be as comic-accurate as possible to the original Marvel Comics, others are more modernized for live-action or debut with brand-new suits entirely. As such, some costumes have been received better than others in the MCU.
Dating back to 2008's Iron Man who had three different versions of his armor in one movie, MCU heroes getting new suits with every appearance has become a staple of MCU sequels and crossovers. This is why Captain America has had seven different versions of his uniform by the time he retired as seen in Avengers: Endgame. That said, some costume changes become part of a movie's narrative to signify a hero's ongoing growth. Here as 12 of the best superhero suits in the MCU.
12 Star-Lord
A large deviation from the Star-Lord seen in the original comics before the Guardians of the Galaxy's debut in 2014, Star-Lord's jacket and helmet were representative of his bolder outlaw status in live-action. While the MCU helmet does have some elements of the original helmet worn by Star-Lord in the comics, the new look for Peter Quill was met with very positive reception, becoming so popular that it even started influencing Quill's look in the current issues from Marvel Comics at the time (and still does).
11 GOTG 3 Uniforms
Conversely, the shared costumes worn by the Guardians in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are very accurate to how the team looked in the original comics. As such, this was clearly meant to be indicative of the team's growth from outlaws to more legitimate heroes in the cosmos for their final adventure together. The blue and red uniforms are not only a fun nod to the comics, but they also represent how far they've come in the MCU across their multiple appearances.
10 Black Panther Civil War Costume
With the character having first debuted in the MCU with Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther's very first suit with its sliver highlights and woven armor pieces is a prime example of Marvel Studios nailing it with the first attempt. While the kinetic vibranium suit seen in the subsequent Black Panther movie had impressive abilities, its use of CGI covered up the practical suit underneath. As such, the fully practical suit worn by King T'Challa in Civil War remains the best version of the Black Panther suit from the nation of Wakanda.
9 Doctor Strange
Incredibly detailed, Doctor Strange's costume is also one that has required very little change over the years. The Cloak of Levitation absolutely looks as though it's a powerful relic that was kept by the Sorcerers of Kamar-Taj for centuries before Strange acquired it, as does the rest of his magical ensemble. Carrying a strong level of comic accuracy doesn't hurt either for the MCU version of the Master of the Mystic Arts.
8 Captain America: Endgame
Of all the suits Captain America wore from WWII to the Battle for Earth, there's only one that's been seen as a failure. Captain America's suit first seen in 2012's The Avengers is one both fans and actor Chris Evans himself would like to forget (especially the ear-muff coverings). Even Avengers: Endgame made fun of the suit when the Avengers traveled back to 2012. However, Captain America's final suit worn at the end of Endgame is by far the best version of his costume, giving fans something they didn't even know they wanted by incorporating the classic scale pattern from the comics into the still modern version of the suit.
7 Spider-Man: Far From Home Upgraded Suit
The classic red and blue Spider-Suit Tony Stark made for Peter Parker seen in Civil War and Spider-Man Homecoming is visually stunning and unique, particularly with his focusing lens eyes that allow for more expression from Spider-Man just like in the comics. However, the upgraded red and black suit Parker makes himself in Far From Home is very much an improvement, honoring the original costume as drawn by Spider-Man's first artist Steve Ditko.
There's also an appreciation to be had for the story where making the suit is part of Parker's journey to become his own hero in the wake of Stark's death in Far From Home. It's the same reason why the new costume Spider-Man makes at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home is also exciting as it was inspired by his fellow Spider-Men from the multiverse. Hopefully, this most recent suit will be seen in future appearances, as Far From Home's suit seems to have been abandoned after it was integrated with the remaining nano-tech from the Iron Spider suit.
6 Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel's costume in the MCU has two key advantages that make it so great. Firstly, it's incredibly comics-accurate to a very high degree while also having an impressive level of detail with its live-action translation. Likewise, the level of cultural references within the suit to Kamala Khan's heritage and family is huge. Ms. Marvel's costume is very much a part of her own growth and is highly representative of her identity as a hero as the suit gradually comes together over the course of her Disney+ series.
5 Daredevil
Originally debuting with his own Netflix series, Matt Murdock's getting his horned red and black suit is a journey all its own, especially after it was stolen and used to frame him as a killer. Needing to redeem himself as well as what his suit stands for, the costume played a key role in Daredevil season 3. Likewise, the yellow and red variant seen in the MCU's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was a fun nod to his original debut in the comics, though one would hope his MCU series on Disney+ will feature a return to form with the more recognizable and popular red and black costume.
4 Moon Knight/Mr. Knight
Moon Knight and his costume's live-action debut in the MCU is a great example of keeping the core style while offering a fresh new take. Comprised of bandages that wrap themselves around Marc Spector as he becomes the Fist of Khonshu, the design is impeccable and quite intimidating. Likewise, Steven Grant's Mr. Knight version looks exactly as it does in the original comics, achieving an immensely satisfying balance for the hero's MCU debut and his multiple personalities.
3 Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff finally achieved her name and status as the Scarlet Witch in Marvel's WandaVision. Naturally, this came with a brand-new costume for Wanda, one more reminiscent of her comic look while still being a more modern take. That being said, WandaVision also saw Wanda wearing a perfect recreation of the Scarlet Witch costume for Halloween, looking exactly like Wanda on the page in her first appearance back in 1964. Nevertheless, the official MCU version she continues to wear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is quite impressive especially with the design keeping her iconic, albeit more conservative, tiara.
