If there is one thing the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taught us, it's that being a super-being does not necessarily mean you will be a super parent. In fact, a lot of times, it means quite the opposite. Some of the best parents in the MCU world are people who have no powers at all.

Looking at the fact that in the comics, many of the kids grow up to follow in their parents' footsteps, it is reasonable to assume the MCU will follow that formula.

Worst: Hank Pym & Janet Van Dyne

Worst Hank Pym & Janet Van Dyne

This entry may seem head-scratching as Hope Van Dyne turned out so awesome. That was despite her parents, however, not because of them. Hank and Janet had great hearts and were willing to sacrifice it all for the greater good. This makes them terrific heroes and bad parents.

Instead of continuing to team up and risk their lives, they should have switched on and off. At any point in time, they could have perished, leaving her orphaned. Also, Hank virtually disappeared and caused a life-long contentious relationship in his grief and attempt to retrieve his wife from the Quantum Realm. The greater good is extremely important - but balance that with your kid, maybe?

Best: Frigga

Best Frigga

Thor's mother was a Goddess - in every way. She was loving, nurturing, and yet strict. She took in Loki more so than her husband, truly loving him and accepting him as hers. Even at his worst, Loki had a softness for Frigga that displayed exactly what a good mother she was.

Embodying what it is to be a parent, Frigga loved her children unconditionally. The fact that Loki can never truly turn his back on his brother is proof of that. If you are asking well, what about Hela? Hela is clearly established as Odin's daughter in the MCU, but she is Loki's daughter in the comics. Frigga is not her mother in the comics and seeing how she is so unredeemable that her own father banishes her to Hell, it is unlikely she had the benefit of this maternal influence.

Worst: Howard Stark

Tony Stark Howard Adopted Father

Much like Hank Pym, Howard Stark is willing to do all he can to protect humanity from the dangers of the universe they don't even know exist. He is one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D., a friend of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, and cares for his son more than Tony will know in his father's lifetime.

His inability to express himself or show Tony any approval or comion comes from many factors, but it made Tony take a long time to realize exactly what a good, kind man he truly was. Howard gets an A for being a good man but an F in parenting.

Best: Tony Stark & Pepper Potts

Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark Iron Man in Spider Man Homecoming

Morgan Stark is a lucky girl. She has great people who managed to translate that into their parenting. Back during the first Iron Man, it is safe to say that no one said yeah, Tony - he's not only going to be the one to sacrifice himself but will make an awesome dad. That is how it turned out, though, on both s.

Tony and Pepper obviously put their daughter before everything else. Yes, Pepper s in the final fight against Thanos, but they will all be snapped out of existence if they lose. They do this knowing that if they lose, they will all be gone anyway. They make a wonderful family, and Pepper and Tony are caring, loving parents who will do whatever it takes to create a better world for their daughter, even if it means giving everything. For that, we love them 3,000.

Worst: Odin

Worst Odin

Odin has a lot on his plate. Let's face it, though, so do a lot of people on this list - even those who landed on the best side of it. Odin managed to raise two children who want his kingdom so badly that they will do anything - including break out of Hel or fake their own deaths (repeatedly) - to get it.

Even Thor, arguably the most well-adjusted of the three kids Odin has in the MCU, starts as an arrogant, selfish man who thinks of nothing but himself. Loki and Thor are redeemable only because of Frigga, so kingdom or no, Odin really dropped the parenting ball.

Best: Scott Lang

Best Scott Lang

Scott Lang had a rough go of it.  Though he has a record, it is hard to fault him for his crimes. Yes, crime is wrong, and you shouldn't do it. If your crime is stealing money back from corporations who cheated people and giving it back to them, though, you definitely do not get it counted against you in parenting.

Scott Lang tried to go straight when Cassie was born, but when he lost his job for correcting what he figured were errors in his companies coding and found out they were intentional, he lost his mind a bit. After he was released from prison, he wanted to be the best dad he could be. He only broke into Pym's house when he lost job after job and was threatened with losing his daughter's visits if he didn't pay his back child . Lang made and would continue to make mistakes in his life. Cassie is his everything, though -  he will constantly try to be better tomorrow than he was yesterday for her.

Worst: Thanos

Gamora Nebula Thanos

Thanos may be a homicidal maniac hell-bent on imposing his beliefs on the rest of the world to the death of half the living things everywhere, but he at least is capable of feeling the love. Though if Nebula was his only daughter, his place on this list might be the top one. His genuine feeling for Gamora is almost endearing.

Yes, he ruins that when he throws her off a cliff to her death to get the Soul Stone, but he feels actual remorse for it. He does it as a last-ditch effort to reset everything and give the entirety of existence a chance - at least in his mind. That remorse and grief he feels for Gamora are why he is the second worst parent in the MCU.

 Best: Hawkeye

Best Hawkeye

There are many different opinions on the MCU's Hawkeye. Whether you love him or hate him, Clint Barton is a good husband and even better father. He makes a deal with Fury to keep his family safe as he serves S.H.I.E.L.D. and works with the Avengers. He keeps his family secret even from them (except Natasha - who can decidedly keep a secret better than anyone - ever) until they must find out.

He retired to be with them, and after breaking the Sakovia Accords accepted a plea deal like Lang to be under house arrest for his family. When he loses them in The Snap, his grief reaction is so intense, but most parents can understand. Overall, the one thing he may be better at than archery is parenting.

Worst: Ego

Worst Ego

This one is pretty much a given. Ego may be a planet, but he is an ugly and uninhabitable one. Ego only sired children to be able to enhance and spread his own power. When his own children were unable to tap into their Deity powers, he killed them. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about him.

Ego is aptly named, as that is all he really consists of. Even Mantis struggles to put into words exactly how horrible he is, and her power is feeling other people's feelings and influencing them. When an empath can't put your horribleness into words, it's bad.

Best: Maria Rambeau

Best Maria Rambeau

She does not have powers and is not a master spy or assassin, but Maria Rambeau has the heart of a hero and could teach everyone on this list, good or bad, what it means to be a good parent. She gives her all to Monica, raising her as a single mother and dealing with being a woman in a male-dominant career, modeling for her daughter how to fight for equality with class and grace.

She chooses Monica over helping out Carol but relents when Monica pushes her to go. She makes sure her parents are there to take care of her, and she does what she must to ensure her child's happiness and safety. That is a super mom.
