Comparing MCU characters to their Disney counterparts might seem a little ironic at first given that the MCU is owned by Disney, but for this list, we’ll look at the main MCU characters and match them with their classic animated Disney film counterpart.

These matches look mostly at the personality of the characters but also at storyline and backstory, and while it was hard to find a perfect fit for everyone, there are some characters that have obvious correlations.

Loki: Scar

Mufasa and Scar in The Lion King

Loki and Scar have a lot in common based on their personalities. For one thing, they are the less loved second son in a royal family, and they both resent their more stereotypically princely and respected brother.

They are both out to gain power and take the throne, but, despite mostly being villains, they are also rather compelling and interesting characters.

Bucky Barnes: Rapunzel

While this might seem like a stretch in some ways given that Bucky Barnes gets turned into a super-soldier killing machine, his story in many ways matches that of a Disney princess more than anything else.

Just like Rapunzel, he is locked away from the world and controlled by a villain, and when he finally gets his freedom he has to learn once again how to function in the real world.

Thor: Phoebus

Phoebus from The Hunchback of Notre Dame

It can be said that Thor is a difficult character to place because there are a few different options. While he could be seen as a Simba character, he doesn’t really match that personality. Given his light-hearted personality and that he sometimes just seems like all brawn and no brains, he could also be compared to Kronk from Emperor's New Groove.

However, given his overall appearance and the fact that he’s a heroic character who is smarter than he might seem, it makes the most sense to match him with Phoebus.

Hulk: Kristoff

This comparison looks more at Bruce Banner with some of the Hulk’s personality traits. Both Bruce and Kristoff are rather introverted and keep to themselves, and they are also extremely strong physically.

However, despite maybe being difficult to get to know or become close to, they are really both sweethearts deep down, and they both have nerdy sides in their own ways.

Black Widow: Elsa

Elsa Frozen

Given that Black Widow is a spy and assassin with a rather dark past, it’s a bit difficult to compare her with a Disney animated character. So, it makes the most sense to compare her with Elsa.

This is because they are both often viewed by others around them as villains, but they are actually rather heroic, kind-hearted people with introverted personalities and a lot of walls up. And, in the end, they are both viewed as heroes.

Spider-Man: Milo Thatch

Milo Thatch and Peter Parker can be considered counterparts because they are both extremely nerdy and sweet people. While they have different fields of study, they are both rather studious and a little dorky.

They are overall very kind and comionate, and while they might be nerds, they are definitely easy to root for. They also both act very heroically to help others around them.

Black Panther: Li Shang

Li Shang

T’Challa is another difficult character to place because he’s much more dynamic and interesting than the majority of the Disney princes. Given that T’Challa is a literal prince and the king, it makes sense to put him with a prince, but he also has a great personality while most of the princes don’t.

So, he matches best with Li Shang because they are both skilled warriors and strong leaders while being quite comionate and having good hearts. They also both lose their fathers and end up shoulder a lot of responsibility.

Captain Marvel: Merida

A lot of the classic Disney female characters don’t match well with many of the Marvel heroines because they just aren't fierce enough and their stories are centered mostly on men.

This is why the closest match for Captain Marvel is Merida. They are both independent, fierce women who carve their own paths. However, their personalities are quite different.

Iron Man: Kuzco

If comparing Iron Man to a Disney prince, the best option is definitely Flynn Rider given that they both have sarcastic personalities and a lot of charm. However, Iron Man matches even better with Kuzco given that they both come from wealth and power and have to learn to care for other people.

While Tony Stark doesn’t get turned into a llama, he does go through his own traumatic journey in order to become a hero.

Captain America: Hercules

Captain America makes the most sense to match with Hercules in a lot of ways. For one thing, they both start as scrawny “zeros” and then transform into bulky, muscled “heroes.”

The physical comparisons are fairly obvious, but they also have similar personalities. They are overall rather serious and very loyal to people they love. They are also both examples of classic heroes who will do anything to save others even if means risking their own lives.
