Jon Bernthal is officially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again. A new Daredevil series is in the works, with Charlie Cox reprising the role of Matt Murdock. After appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Cox will headline his own show on Disney+. Vincent D'Onofrio is also returning to the MCU as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, following his Hawkeye appearance. The Disney+ drama officially began production this week as Daredevil's story in the MCU continues.

Daredevil: Born Again is upping the stakes as another major MCU hero is taking part in the show. THR is reporting that Bernthal will return to the MCU as The Punisher, after his Netflix show came to an end after only two seasons. Marvel Studios, Disney+, and Bernthal's representatives have yet to comment on the story.

Which Netflix Daredevil Actors Are Returning For Born Again & Those Who Aren't

What is key to is Daredevil: Born Again is not meant to serve as season 4 of Cox's original Netflix series. However, Daredevil: Born Again is also not being envisioned as a full-on reboot, but a continuation of Matt Murdock's progression in the MCU. Whether or not they will make major references to Netflix's Daredevil show remains to be seen. With Bernthal's Punisher appearing in the series, it raises questions about other MCU-Netflix stars.

Many have been wondering if Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson would reprise their roles as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. Unfortunately, THR reported that as of right now, neither actor is expected to appear in Daredevil: Born Again. What is unclear, however, is whether or not the characters are being recast for Daredevil: Born Again or if they're being left out altogether. If they're not featured, Karen and Foggy may at least get referenced to explain their absences.

Time will tell if other actors from Daredevil will be brought over for Daredevil: Born Again. What is also intriguing is Cox's new Disney+ series may also see the return of other characters from The Defenders. Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter have been teasing a potential MCU return for quite a while, though nothing's been confirmed. At this point, it wouldn't be shocking if Jessica Jones and Luke Cage popped up somehow. Hopefully, it won't be long until Daredevil: Born Again set photos give a first look at Bernthal's Punisher return.
