Charlie Cox's three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil, Cox formally ed the larger MCU in 2021.
That led to the actor having a series of different appearances, ranging from cameos to ing roles to now leading an Daredevil: Born Again season 2 confirmed, the hero is bound to remain a constant in the MCU, and Marvel Studios' future projects can learn from what worked in Cox's Daredevil appearances so far.
7 Echo
Disney+ Series Released In 2024 - Cameo
Echo was the last live-action MCU series to feature Cox's Daredevil before he got to lead his own Marvel Studios project in the form of Daredevil: Born Again. While there was a lot of talk before the show's release about Kingpin and Daredevil's role in the series, the latter got the short end of the stick. Cox came in for a single sequence as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
There was not any focus on character development for Matt. In fact, the lawyer side of the hero was never shown. The cameo was solely focused on Daredevil's fighting skills. In Echo, Daredevil appears as an antagonistic force that disrupts a criminal meeting and brutally beats many low-level thugs. His focus then turns to the series' protagonist, with Daredevil engaging Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez, aka Echo, in a thrilling fight.
Daredevil's Echo cameo led to the debut of his new MCU suit. It was his best-looking superhero costume yet, with a stronger tone of red, a cleaner torso section, and a sleek helmet. Daredevil used his newfound acrobatic MCU skills to take on Echo, soon proving himself to be too much for her to take alone. Daredevil's Echo appearance ranks last because it was extremely short, and even though the fight was exciting, his role was not integral to the show.
6 Spider-Man: No Way Home
MCU Movie Released In 2021 - Cameo
Spider-Man: No Way Home is a very important project for Daredevil. After all of Netflix's The Defenders Saga series were canceled, it seemed like that would be the end of the line for Cox's version of Matt Murdock. However, seven years after Daredevil season 3 aired, Cox returned as Matt in Tom Holland's third Spider-Man movie. His role was a perfect fit for the film.

While Cox did not don the Daredevil suit on the big screen, which many hope will happen in Holland's Spider-Man 4, Marvel had Spider-Man and Daredevil share the screen in live-action for the first time. Matt Murdock served as Peter Parker's lawyer, helping him get his life back together after his identity as Spider-Man was outed by Mysterio. Cox was only in the film for a brief scene.

Still, the moment was enough to establish a connection between Spider-Man and Daredevil in the MCU, as well as hint at Matt's superhero persona, with him catching a brick thrown from behind his back. The reason it ranks lower on the list is due to the short time Matt had in the film, as well as his Daredevil persona not being used. That said, his role was important.
5 Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Disney+ Animated Series Released In 2025 - Extended Cameo
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was a great surprise from Marvel Studios in 2025. The series might not be set in the MCU, but its story takes place in an alternate universe that has similar events to the franchise, all with a fresh spin on both MCU and Marvel Comics characters. Returning from his MCU role is Charlie Cox, who voices Daredevil again in the animated series.
Daredevil also returns in the season 1 finale, which reveals he planted a mole inside Oscorp, Finesse, and will be back later on.
The Disney+ show allowed Marvel Studios to finally do what Spider-Man: No Way Home did not. Instead of appearing as Matt Murdock, Cox voiced his superhero persona. Daredevil was investigating Norman Osborn, who was Peter Parker's mentor in the series. After being caught snooping around Oscorp by Spider-Man, the two heroes have one of the show's most exciting fights. Seeing Cox's Daredevil fighting Spider-Man was a sight to behold.

Cox also had a lot of fun with his lines, as this is a lighter version of Daredevil compared to the Netflix series. It ranks higher than his two other cameos on the list due to the extended Daredevil action, as well as the key role he plays in planting the seed of doubt about Norman Osborn on Peter. After this meeting, Spider-Man would never completely trust Norman again.
4 She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
Disney+ Series Released In 2024 - Cameo
Daredevil's appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law stands as his biggest role up to this point in another character's project. That is why it easily ranks above the other entries before it on the list. Both the Matt Murdock and Daredevil sides of Charlie Cox's Marvel character were spotlighted in the series. First, Cox entered the scene as Matt, with his lawyer skills shining.
He beats Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters in court, later charming her at a bar and nearly hooking up before he has to leave. While She-Hulk had quite a few flings in the Marvel Studios series, the Daredevil romance was undoubtedly the best of them. They showed great chemistry while fighting villains and flirting in calmer moments. That led to Daredevil appearing in two episodes of the show.

The She-Hulk series was the first Marvel Studios project to show Daredevil fighting, and so it revealed that Cox's character now has his full acrobatic repertoire from the comics. Daredevil was lighter than in the Netflix series, cracking jokes and having fun around She-Hulk. Another interesting part of the appearance is that it showed Daredevil's most different suit yet, with a yellow and red design.
3 The Defenders
The Defenders Saga Crossover Series Released In 2017 - Main Role
With The Defenders, the list now gets into main character territory for Matt Murdock, so the top three are notably a step above the other entries. While not a Daredevil project, the crossover series had him as its most prominent hero. Netflix's The Defenders Saga was always going to build up to The Defenders, as the limited series had been planned from the start, so seeds were planted in the shows.

Jessica Jones’ MCU Return Has Just Become Way More Likely After Marvel Decided Not To Have Her Back In The MCU’s First 2025 Release
Jessica Jones was almost included in Marvel Studios' first 2025 project, and now an exciting update makes Krysten Ritter's MCU return more likely.
The Netflix series saw Cox's Daredevil interact with Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Finn Jones' Iron Fist, and Mike Colter's Luke Cage. The chemistry between them was great. Fitting the darker tone of the Netflix Marvel shows, the heroes did not initially want to team up, with Daredevil particularly being against revealing his secret identity to the others. The show allowed him to open up to other heroes and finally be part of a team.

Daredevil and Jessica Jones had great chemistry, with a fun back-and-forth that has many fans hoping she will return in Daredevil: Born Again. Since Elektra played a major antagonistic role in The Defenders, Daredevil was obviously elevated due to his past relationship with her. Matt Murdock's ending in The Defenders was very important for the final season of his Netflix series.
2 Daredevil: Born Again
Disney+ Series Released In 2025 - Main Role
Finally, after four years of his return as Matt Murdock and having appeared in multiple MCU shows since then, Cox leads Daredevil: Born Again. The TV show went through a creative overhaul that brought it much closer to the tone and overall story of Netflix's Daredevil. That includes the return of fan-favorite characters, such as Bullseye, Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, the Punisher, and more.

Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 1 & 2 Review - I Was Heartbroken By THAT Major Tragedy In A Faithful Follow-Up To Netflix's Daredevil Series
Daredevil: Born Again hits the ground running with a hertbreaking start that sets up an intense dive into Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk in the MCU.
Daredevil: Born Again does have some differences from the original series, with an early tragedy setting Matt on quite a dark path. So far, the character's story is about finding his way back to being Daredevil after he left that part of his life on pause due to the tragedy. Matt is successful in life, with a fancy law firm to show for his efforts. However, he is not nearly as happy as he once was.

Daredevil: Born Again

The Marvel Studios series is dark and violent, offering a mature exploration of guilt, sorrow, and more that help make Cox's Daredevil even more complex. The explosive fights are still there, with character development never being put on the backburner. While it could eventually become Cox's best Daredevil appearance, only two episodes have been released at the time of writing, so it remains to be seen how the rest of season 1 will play out.
1 Daredevil
The Defenders Saga Series Released In 2015 - Main Role
While Daredevil: Born Again has the potential to top the list in a couple of years, it will have a hard time doing so. That is because Netflix's Daredevil currently stands as the best live-action Marvel series ever released. The show is even held by many as the best superhero series overall. Cox's Matt Murdock had his origin story depicted in the series.
Netflix's Daredevil explored Matt's childhood, how he slowly went from a vigilante to the full-on superhero known as Daredevil to his epic season 3 clash with Kingpin. Every season of the show was great in its own right. Even season 2, which is the least popular among all three, brilliantly introduced Jon Bernthal's Punisher, making his clash of ideals with Daredevil as engaging as the bone-crunching fights of the show.

Cox's Daredevil shined as the series' main star. Matt Murdock had plenty of intense courtroom showdowns, with his fighting scenes being some of the most creative and impactful in live-action superhero adaptations. It made hallway fight scenes iconic for a reason. Netflix's Daredevil made Cox's Matt Murdock the definitive version of the character for many, which is why Marvel Studios had to bring him back to the MCU years later, guaranteeing that his Daredevil legacy would continue.
