While the Harry Potter might be totally separate franchises, they are both extremely popular fantasy/adventure series that have millions of fans across the globe. As such, it’s an interesting thought exercise to imagine how a character from one franchise would fit into the world of the other

We’ve put together a list of some of the most popular MCU characters and figured out which Hogwarts subject or activity they would excel at the most based on their personalities and superhero skills.

Groot: Herbology

Groot Neville Longbottom

This is the most obvious choice on the list given that Groot is literally a sentient tree. Because of this, he would likely be able to have some communication or at least understanding of many other plant species.

Plus, it’s rather fun to imagine Groot hanging out with Neville Longbottom who would likely be super excited by Groot’s existence.

Scarlet Witch: Divination

Given that Scarlet Witch’s name literally has a witch in the title, this makes the most sense for her. She is able to mess with people’s minds and realities in a way that matches best with Divination.

Plus, she is also extremely powerful, and divination is a powerful but often misunderstood form of magic. In the comics, she is half-Romani but sadly wasn’t cast in this way. However, her background would give her the right to explore divination in a culturally appropriate way.

Loki: Astronomy

Given that Loki is a god from Norse mythology and associated with space and space magic in the MCU, he would likely excel at Astronomy.

Loki is actually a sorcerer who can use magic even within his own franchise, so he would likely be one of the most powerful and adept at using magic in the Harry Potter world. He definitely makes the most sense as being associated with the stars.

Doctor Strange: Ancient Runes

Given that Doctor Strange is a wizard who uses magic with a long tradition, this makes the most sense for him. He would definitely excel at studying this historic branch of magic in the Harry Potter series.

Plus, the type of magic Doctor Strange sues in the MCU actually involves drawing a variety of runes and symbols already. This makes this pairing basically a perfect match.

Black Panther: Charms

Black Panther MCU Future Avengers

Black Panther was a character that was a bit hard to place because there are a couple of options that would work. For one thing, he would be great at Defense Against the Dark Arts as the character is all about protecting others and his country.

But, on the other hand, he is also very capable in other things such as diplomacy and is well-rounded. Because of these factors and his all-around likable personality, charms make the most sense because it’s such a versatile form of magic.

Hulk: Potions

While Hulk might be all about brute strength and, at least at first, rage, Bruce Banner is all about intellect and science.

In many ways, potions are the most scientific and applicable branch of magic to the real world, and it would make a lot of sense for a scientist who literally used a serum to transform himself into the Hulk to study potions.

Thor: Quidditch

Thor (1)

Thor is definitely not just completely about humor and his amazing super strength, but he is extremely athletic and enjoys having a good time. This doesn't mean he wouldn't be good at actually studying magic, but he does seem like the type of character who would have been a jock in school.

As the most stereotypical athletic and warrior type of the Avengers, Thor would excel as a Quidditch player and would likely be captain of the Gryffindor team.

Black Widow: Metamorphagus

While Black Widow would also likely be good at things like Transfiguration and potions, and any physical sport, she would also make a great Metamorphagi.

Her skills as a spy mean that she’s able to blend in well to many situations, and having the ability to change her appearance would be extremely helpful even after she becomes an Avenger.

Iron Man: Transfiguration

While Iron Man is also a scientist who would do well at subjects like potions, his tendency to create things and transform them into something else makes him a great match with the subject of Transfiguration.

While it’s not exactly the same thing as building suits and weapons, being able to change one object into something totally different is sort of what an engineer does.

Captain America: Defense Against the Dark Arts

While all of the heroes from the MCU could and would likely excel at Defense Against the Dark Arts to some degree, the character that fits this class the most is Captain America.

His entire character revolves around someone who doesn’t like bullies and wants to protect others from evil, cruel people. He would take this subject as seriously in the same way that Harry does, and he would likely be top of his class.
