One of the biggest mysteries in Spider-Man has never had his origin story detailed in the MCU, but the Marvel Animation series, created by Jeff Trammell, saw Peter Parker bitten by his infamous spider, and uncovered the paradox that allowed this to happen.

Following his transformation into Spider-Man, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2, and one of these could explain a major unanswered mystery from episode 1, "Amazing Fantasy."

Following the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's finale, "If This Be My Destiny...," on February 19, showrunner Spider-Man love interest Gwen Stacy, noting that "The Neighborhood just got a little more Friendly." Gwen Stacy first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1965's The Amazing Spider-Man #31, and became the first romantic interest for Peter Parker, even before MJ. She was tragically murdered by the Green Goblin in 1973, and her death had major repercussions on Spider-Man's subsequent adventures.

Gwen Stacy has previously been portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard and Emma Stone in live-action, while Hailee Steinfeld voices the hero in Sony's Spider-Verse franchise, but Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will mark her debut in a Marvel Studios property. Marvel creates the opportunity for some exciting storylines by debuting Gwen Stacy, such as exploring her relationship with Spider-Man, her demise, or even her variant's evolution into a Spider-Man-like hero, Spider-Woman. The latter could pick up after Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's premiere, answering a huge mystery.

Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman Powers Come From Peter Parker & Explain An Unanswered Episode 1 Mystery In New Theory

Gwen Stacy Might Have Already Been Seen In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

We saw Peter Parker get bitten by a spider that came through the portal to a future Oscorp in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's premiere, but this spider didn't die after it bit Parker, and instead hitched a ride on a nearby backpack. This spider, in the future, had been injected with Peter Parker's own enhanced blood, meaning Spider-Man's origin is a bootstrap paradox in the animated series. However, Peter Parker may not be the only character enhanced by Spider-Man's DNA, as it could have been Gwen Stacy who picked up the backpack at Midtown High.

Marvel is about to explore a brand-new Spider-Man story from across the MCU's multiverse, but I still want to know more about Tom Holland's hero.

The possibility that it was Gwen Stacy who picked up the backpack carrying the spider that bit Peter Parker suggests that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 could introduce Stacy as Spider-Woman. The spider may also bite her, giving her spider-like abilities, and allowing both Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker to operate as similar heroes in the same reality. This would be a great way to begin to expand on the MCU's own Spider-Verse, separate from Sony's animated exploration, which could prove important in future Multiverse Saga projects.
