The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of exciting heroes and villains. Most recently, fans were introduced to Gorr The God Butcher in Thor: Love And Thunder, someone who was downright cruel in his intentions and murderous rampage.
Some characters aren't necessarily evil, or good, they're somewhere in the middle. They're quick to anger and tend to lash out at those around them, for seemingly no reason. Their motives might not be the evilest or violent, but their actions cause hurt to their friends or loved ones. Putting it simply, they're just mean.
Ikaris (Eternals)
Eternals flopped for many reasons, but perhaps one of the most glaring issues was its lack of likable leaders. Ikaris was the former tactical leader of the Eternals, but there wasn't anything redeemable about him.
He has a big character arc in the movie, in the end sacrificing himself for his actions, but that doesn't make up for the bitter feelings fans had watching him on screen. He seemingly only cared about Sersi and disregarded everyone else. He wasn't a team player, nor was he the most comionate, he simply existed to cause friction between the rest of the Eternals. He was rude and unkind to almost everyone.
Loki (Thor)
Loki was first introduced as an antagonist in Thor (2011). As Thor's adoptive brother, it was clear he was struggling with his own identity and where he fit in on Asgard. His father, King Odin, saw him as a spare, and seemingly never showed him any love.
As a result, Loki becomes aggressive. He's quick-witted and usually aims his venom at those close to him. Loki. Unlike some of the other characters on this list, Loki is actively trying to be better, but his meanness is still one of the most recognizable parts of his character.
General Ross (The Incredible Hulk)
General Ross, former Lieutenant General of the US Army, was undeniably mean. He seemed to have a personal vendetta against the Avengers and enforced this in Captain America: Civil War.
He led the manhunt for Captain America and Black Widow, arresting several of the Avengers who was on Cap's side. Fans have even argued that he is the reason half the Avengers are dead, seeing as it was the events of Captain America: Civil War that left the Avengers divided and unable to defeat Thanos on their first try.
Justin Hammer (Iron Man 2)
Former CEO of Hammer Industries, a business rival to Stark Industries, Justin Hammer was self-centered and rude from his very first introduction. Given that he was up against Tony Stark, the King of self-centered behavior, it shows how awful he was if he was worst than Tony.
Hammer only cared about his public image, as is clear in his motives in trying to tear down Tony's public image. He's manipulative and often equipped with venomous quips or comebacks.
Nebula (The Guardians Of The Galaxy)
Nebula, the adopted sister of Gamora, is as spiteful and mean as they come. Although her attitude is understandable, given how difficult her upbringing was. She was adopted by Thanos as essentially used for parts, being assembled and dissembled whenever he pleased.
When Nebula is introduced to the Guardians, she's quick-witted and sharp with her words, directing them at anyone who will listen. Her anger doesn't simmer as time goes on, she just learns to hold her tongue better. She always has a mean comment ready to launch at anyone who she believes deserves it.
Ronin (Hawkeye)
As the alter ego of Clint Barton, Ronin is mean to the bone. He goes on a vigilante crusade across the world after losing his family to the Snap, but in the process loses himself.
He makes several enemies along the way, many of whom come back to haunt him later. He shows no mercy and kills anyone he believes is in his way. Ronin is the exact opposite of Hawkeye, he's bitter and full of hatred, Hawkeye.
Bucky Barnes (Captain America)
Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, is one of Marvel's most interesting anti-heroes/villains. He went from fighting at Captain America's side in World War II to becoming an assassin for HYDRA for decades.
In Bucky lashes out at one of his only friends, Sam Wilson. Bucky has a lot of anger bottled up and it comes out in aggression and moments of unkindness, despite his efforts to heal and move on from his past.
Tony Stark (Iron Man)
Tony Stark has had one of the most interesting character developments out of any of the Avengers. He started as an egotistical, self-centered, almost annoying character to watch.
Despite his progress, and his ultimate sacrifice, in the end, Tony still had a mean streak. He was quick to anger and quick to start an argument, and he often lashed out at his fellow teammates when things didn't go as planned. He wasn't evil, he was just a little mean towards his friends and loved ones.
Rocket Raccoon (The Guardians Of The Galaxy)
Rocket is rude and likes to annoy his fellow Guardians, no matter how often they ask him to stop. He's bitter as a result of the experiments performed on him when he was younger, and this bitterness often comes out aimed at his fellow Guardians.
Rocket seemingly has a soft spot for his friend Groot, the two are inseparable. However, this doesn't stop him from attacking his friends. He tries to hide his meanness behind jokes, but his words still hurt his teammates regardless of his intentions.
Frank Castle (The Punisher)
Better known as The Punisher, Frank Castle is incredibly complex. He spent time in the US Marines, which undoubtedly hardened his character. After his family is murdered, Frank loses all control, turning into a vigilante and mercenary.
Similar to some of the other character, his attitude might not be justified, but it's understandable. He relies on his scare tactics to keep people away, often launching into loud arguments or yelling matches, using words as his weapons. He's full of bitter resentment and anger and this comes out in his mean nature.
