What's The Next MCU Show After What If...?

Now that Marvel's What If...? has wrapped up, what's the next MCU TV show to come to Disney+, and when will it land? In a pivot to the small screen, Marvel Studios has quickly made its television installments hot viewing, with three MCU TV series already having aired and wrapped in 2021. Marvel's Disney+ offerings are going strong, and adding real drama and interest to the MCU in ways that previous Marvel Television stories were unable (or not allowed).

First came WandaVision, exploring in a kooky (for Marvel, at least) sitcom style the grief Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) experienced after the death of Vision (Paul Bettany) with many entanglements with SHIELD and fellow witch Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn). Then came Loki, exploring the title character's (Tom Hiddleston) shenanigans after escaping the events of The Avengers in 2012 with the help of the Tesseract, only to be arrested by the TVA, make friends with Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) and a variant of himself in Sylvie (Sophia DiMartino) and confront He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). Then came What If...?, a wild animated adventure in which the MCU Phase 4's multiverse was introduced and explored, with variants of many of the MCU's primary characters battling interdimensional forces, featuring the return of many Marvel actors in their original live-action roles, including Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman),and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Now that What If...? has wrapped its season 1 run, Marvel fans are wondering what's next for the MCU on TV.

Marvel Studios has an incredibly busy production schedule for both movies and TV and, despite 2021 being the first year MCU TV shows aired, there's still one more to come before the end of 2021. The next Marvel TV show to stream on Disney+ will be Hawkeye, which will premiere on November 24, 2021 and release weekly until December 29, 2021.

While many might call him the most boring Avenger, Hawkeye is indeed getting his own Marvel TV series. Jeremy Renner will return to his role as one of the original Avengers, and will be ed by an diverse cast that will likely see him hand over his superhero title to a successor in Kate Bishop. The addition of Hailee Steinfeld to the MCU as Bishop is an exciting move and, as the first trailer for Hawkeye has shown, will add a brilliant new dynamic to the MCU Phase 4. The Hawkeye Marvel TV show will also mark Florence Pugh's return to the MCU after her debut as Yelena Belova in Black Widow, and introduce Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf superhero. Rounding out the cast are Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Kate's mother, Fra Fee as Kazi, Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, and Brian D'Arcy James in a to-be-confirmed role.

Fans of the MCU have plenty more to look forward to even beyond Hawkeye, with 2022 also being a big year for Hawkeye TV show and the Marvel TV series timeline beyond it.
