While it's been a long while since fans had a new MCU film to enjoy, the cinematic universe is moving forward with some big projects. One of the most talked-about films is Spider-Man 3. Though the franchise is already popular, recent casting announcements and rumors have fans buzzing that there might be a live-action Spider-Verse story on the way.

After Jamie Foxx's Electro was announced to make a surprising comeback, other rumors started to swirl about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield possibly returning to their Spider-Man roles. Sony has tried to downplay the rumors but hasn't squashed them definitively. But the question remains: is a Spider-Verse movie a good idea?

Good: The Potential For The Future

It was already hinted at that a multiverse would be introduced in the MCU with the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. With Strange's involvement in Spider-Man 3, it added more weight to the rumors of that playing a role in this film.

Many have asked where the MCU would go following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Introducing the multiverse would mean the possibilities of what the cinematic universe could be are limitless. From establishing new characters, bringing back old ones, and embracing the weirdest storylines, things could get wild.

Bad: Too Much

As much as the future of the MCU remains uncertain, few people would have suggested that it needs to grow more. It is already a massive universe that expands from Earth-bound adventures into the cosmos. There are also more than enough characters to focus on and plenty more on the way.

Establishing the multiverse might be fun but it also could get very messy very quickly. There needs to be some boundaries to this cinematic universe, and alternate dimensions and realities make that very hard to contain.

Good: Fans Would Go Nuts

Now that Endgame has come and gone, people are wondering how it will ever be topped. The image of all those heroes assembling and running into battle together felt like the culmination of everything before it and the moment fans had been waiting for.

If ever there was anything that could rival the excitement of that scene it would be seeing the three live-action versions of Spider-Man swinging into action together. It is unquestionably exciting to think there's a possibility that could happen.

Bad: Limited Screen Time

While the initial reaction to the thought of Maguire and Garfield is understandably excited, fans should temper their expectations about what that could actually mean. It would be a lot of fun seeing these three Spider-Men teaming up for the whole movie, but that would probably not be the case.

The reality is that, if this does even happen, their involvement would be very limited. There are even rumors that they would just be involved in the final act of the film. Would that be satisfying for fans, or just a big letdown?

Good: Redemption

Andrew Garfield is clearly a talented actor, but he never had much success as Spider-Man. The Amazing Spider-Man was seen as a serviceable if unwarranted new take while the sequel was a total mess. Likewise, as popular as Tobey Maguire's first two Spider-Man films were, the trilogy ended on a sour note.

This could be a great way to give these versions of Spider-Man a shot at redemption. The MCU has shown a talent for depicting their heroes and it would be a lot of fun seeing these two actors get one last shot at the role.

Bad: It's Tom Holland's Film

Tom Holland in Spider-Man Far From Home

With two solo films under his belt along with three team-up movies, Tom Holland has become the best live-action Spider-Man in the eyes of many fans. He brings so much charm and humor to this younger take on the character, making him one of the MCU's most endearing heroes.

However, his involvement in the MCU is limited as the new agreement with Sony suggests this will be his last solo film in the MCU. If that is the case, it would be a shame to not allow him to take center stage without having to share the spotlight.

Good: Spider-Man Could Remain In The MCU

The agreement between Marvel and Sony was a dream come true that many fans never thought could happen. While it has been shaky at times, there is still hope that Spider-Man, or some version of him, will remain in the MCU. With a Spider-Verse, that becomes a lot more likely.

By introducing different realities, Sony and Marvel could have their own versions of the hero working simultaneously. The MCU could keep Holland's Peter Parker, which has been very profitable. Meanwhile, Sony could continue to build their own cinematic universe with a new version of Spider-Man at the center.

Bad: It's Been Done

As popular and successful as the MCU Spider-Man films have been, a recent big-screen take on the hero somewhat stole their thunder. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was called the best Spider-Man movie of all time by many, and even the best superhero movie of all time.

It is a fresh, funny, poignant and energetic spin on the story we all know so well. It is also jampacked with different versions of Spider-Man fighting side by side. For the MCU to do a similar story now seems like they are just playing catch-up.

Good: The Sinister Six

Spider-Man has one of the best rosters of villains out of any superhero. We have seen many of them brought to life on the big screen with both good and bad results. But ever since they started making Spider-Man movies, fans have been eagerly waiting for a Sinister Six movie.

It feels like that is what is being built up to. With Michael Keaton's Vulture appearing in Morbius and Foxx's Electro making a return, the villains seem to be assembling. It would make sense that the three Spider-Men have to team up to take on six of their deadliest foes.

Bad: Miles Morales

Miles Morales in Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse

While most fans know Spider-Man as Peter Parker, and each of the live-action movies have focused on him, a new version of Spider-Man is coming into the spotlight. Miles Morales was introduced in the comics awhile ago, but in recent years he has become even more popular.

Miles could be the Spider-Man for a new generation which means a live-action Spider-Verse movie faces a no-win scenario with the character. They either don't include him, which would feel wrong, or they stick him in a ing role which would feel cheap since he was just the lead character in Into the Spider-Verse.
