The Marvel Cinematic Universe has given a long run for the theatricals of superheroes and in this ten-year saga, the Earth's mightiest heroes have faced plenty of threats, big, small, alien, and quarrels within their team. The finale of the Infinity Saga saw the team of heroes face the Mad Titan, Thanos.
However, the MCU has had numerous villains that have surfaced over the years and are all great in their sinful ways. The second installment in Age Of Ultron, introduces the imposing Ultron. Ultron was not a supernatural being or possessed the godly powers of an infinity stone, but he actually might be the series' greatest foe.
The Threat He Poses
"He's In Your Files. He's In The Internet. What If He Decides To Access Something A Little More Exciting?"
Unlike other villains, Ultron was the brainchild of Stark, Banner, and the intellect of J.A.RV.I.S. His whole existence was around tech-savvy Artificial Intelligence creation. His ability to morph or utilize the internet and access any data which could be off-limits for any other individual makes him a concerning threat.
Ultron considered the big net to be his world that would help him on his journey to annihilate humans only so that they could "evolve." This doubtful question comes from James Rhodes as he voices the concerning act of Ultron's powers and what he could do. Maria Hill is quick to note that nuclear codes are possible.
An Intimidating Moment
"But Like My Old Man Said, What Doesn't Kill You, Just Makes Me Stronger."
Ultron was the invention and development child of Tony Stark. The relationship between Ultron and Tony was more than complex. The scene where Black Widow steals the regeneration pod that contains the "next" plausible Ultron body shows a more vicious and angered personality of Ultron.
Although he seemed very happy to share his "evolution" with her, he was frustrated that his new body was gone but congratulated Widow for it. Their "deep" conversation ends with an improved Ultron ripping the old one, implying that he is getting stronger. It's completely intimidating.
Not A Fan Of Comparisons
"I Mean, Look At Me. Do I Look Like Iron Man? Stark Is Nothing."
Ultron's biggest annoyance was when he would be associated with Tony Stark. His hatred for his "old man" was beyond being human. Ultron's beliefs drastically were different from that of Stark's.
His constant aggression would be, when compared to Tony, highlighting his rebellious nature. His painful aggressive behavior was displayed while talking briefly with Ulysses Klaue. He even cut Klaue's arm off when he compared Ultron to Tony. His ruthless nature of being likened with Stark put him as one of the greater foes considering he was a product of one of the avengers.
His Grand Plan
"I'm Sorry, I Know You Mean Well. You Just Didn't Think It Through. You Want To Protect The World But Don't Want To Change. How Is Humanity Saved If It's Not Allowed To Evolve?"
Ultron was many things, one being a creature with words. He usually spoke with intellect and seemed to know more than what he gave away. His quotes often humor on how humans live and the necessity for evolution.
With a hint of sarcasm and a bit of condescending attitude, Ultron often spoke the unraveling truth. His ideology about humanity's evolution was introduced as his indecent plans when he disturbed the little party of the avengers. Ultron's nature of seeing humans as sacrifices for something better equalizes his power to the other villains.
A Good Philosophy
"As I Always Say, Keep Your Friends Rich And Your Enemies Rich And Then Find Out Which Is Which."
Ultron's personality is kind of a manifestation of Tony Stark himself and he reflects Tony's nature, specifically when he uses Tony's quotes. When Ulysses Klaue asks for money for vibranium, Ultron says to keep friends and enemies rich, and despite their 'status,' they would betray for money.
His pessimistic opinion about humans and their greed gives Ultron an upper hand as he is far above such emotions. His idea to use money and power to differentiate and divide people makes him more manipulative than the rest of the villains.
A Villain Who Believes They're Right
"I Was Designed To Save The World."
Ultron was a patronizing complaisant. His belief in evolving humanity stems from the idea of eradicating the Avengers first. In the aftermath of the invasion of Chitauri from The Avengers movie, people saw the group as their savior.
There were heavy sacrifices and consequences man paid, but the Avengers were a testimony of hope during a crisis. Ultron chimes in saying, 'people look up to the sky for hope,' this is a hinted reference to the Iron Man as a savior. But later he adds that it will be the first thing he takes from them. Stealing a man's hope is the persona of a vicious being.
He's Filled With Rage
"Ultron Could Have Assimilated J.AR.V.I.S. This Isn't Strategy This Is Rage."
After the first encounter between the Avengers and a barely walking Ultron, it was clear that Ultron wanted the Avengers 'extinct.' The discussion among the group reveals the first victim of Ultron's doings was J.A.R.V.I.S. While Bruce Banner strategizes this, he notes that this wasn't a strategic attack but instead someone filled with rage.
Ultron showed immense anger against the Avengers, specifically towards Tony. He felt the need for Avengers to save humanity was unnecessary. Ultron's actions did leave the group flustered as his reach was way out of the Avengers' hand and he was furious.
Ultron Beat The Avengers First
"Earth's Mightiest Heroes. He Pulled Us Apart Like Cotton Candy."
With the help of the Maximoff Twins, Ultron gets inside the Avengers' heads effortlessly. After their first failed attempt to ambush him, the Avengers retreat to Clint's house, where Steve states that Ultron ripped them inside out. His motive of breaking the Avengers from within the group is his biggest aim.
The fact Ultron tries to tear the Avengers apart is known to all the , yet they can't help but have doubts about what their future holds as a team. Ultron's savage use of Wanda's powers to turn the heroes against each other and break them from the inside makes him ruthless compared to others. Up until this point, nobody else had bested the Avengers this way
About The Sokovia Fight
"You Take Away My World, I Take Away Yours."
The final battle in Sokovia was a chaotic fight. Ultron bought his best with the metal army taking out civilization while the entire land floated high above.
Ultron uses the rest of the vibranium as a machine to lift the land and plans to crash it on the ground. Yet he is confronted by Vision, who intends to burn him inside out. The pair fight to stop each other, but Ultron ultimately gains the upper hand. He fumes his anger by taking away the world the Avengers protect.
No Longer Controlled
"I Had Strings, But Now I'm Free. There Are No Strings On Me."
One of themost iconic quotes said from an MCU villain. After the first chaotic encounter in the Avengers headquarters, Ultron crashes the Avengers' sweet party and almost gets decapitated by them. But in doing so, they don't kill him but free him from any connection he previously had as a built program.
His saying this brought sudden chills and was clearly visible on the entire group's face. Ultron, unlike other heroes, was not just ruthless; he was sharp and manipulative. He effortlessly got into their heads and disassembled them from the inside, which is pretty terrifying for artificial intelligence.
