Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Secret Invasion episode 5

Summary

  • Secret Invasion episode 5 reveals that Nick Fury collected DNA from every Avenger in Endgame, potentially leading to disaster if it falls into the wrong hands.
  • His confession reveals the most powerful Avenger, with their DNA possessing god-like superpowers that could greatly boost the Super-Skrulls.
  • It also confirms previous MCU villains made a grave mistake with the same Avenger, as that precious DNA could have been used to enhance their own warriors to unmatched levels of power.

Marvel has just confirmed the most powerful Avenger in the MCU’s phase 5, and probably of all time. Secret Invasion episode 5 includes the stunning revelation that Nick Fury secretly collected the DNA of every Avenger who fought and bled at Endgame’s Battle of Earth, setting up potential disaster. If Gravik gets ahold of that DNA as he intends, the Super-Skrulls will be power-boosted by several Avengers with God-like superpowers.

Secret Invasion introduced the Harvest as yet another consequence of the superhero age, following Phase 3 and 4’s Damage Control subplot kicked off by Spider-Man: Homecoming. Instead of dangerous tech potentially falling into the wrong hands though, Secret Invasion followed She-Hulk’s lead of introducing Avengers DNA as a potential weapon. In doing so, Marvel also confirmed the most powerful Avenger by revealing the most valuable DNA.

Secret Invasion Confirmed Captain Marvel Is The Most Dangerous Avenger

The Marvels Captain Marvel

In Secret Invasion episode 5, when Nick Fury reveals the truth of the Harvest and his stolen Avengers DNA, he drops a line that subtly confirms that Captain Marvel is the most powerful of his hero allies. Explaining that the heroes shed blood at the Battle of Earth and enabled his Skrull spies to collect their DNA, Fury pointedly says “even Carol Danvers”, which may seem innocuous, but reveals an MCU truth. Singling out one strand of hero DNA from a pool that would include Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Thor and Captain America - Gods, super-soldiers, magical mutants and monsters - Captain Marvel stands above them as the most dangerous part of the cocktail.

Fury knows that access to Captain Marvel’s DNA could be terrifyingly useful for the Super-Skrulls. Her superpower origin saw Carol Danvers’ genetics changed by the Tesseract and further enhanced with a Kree blood transfusion. She is not just an alpha tier hero based on her genetics - like Thor, Steve Rogers or Hulk - she also comes with powers that are tied to her DNA and not learned like Doctor Strange. Her DNA would effectively be super soldier serum with a considerable booster shot. No wonder she’s considered the most dangerous and powerful Avenger.

Secret Invasion Makes The Kree Look Very Silly

The revelation that Captain Marvel’s DNA could simply be isolated and used to enhance other humanoids will come as a devastating blow to the Kree. They had Carol Danvers in their possession for years, brainwashing her into following their zealous ways and seeking to destroy the Skrulls. But they also lived with the very real - and ultimately realized - threat that she could her past and betray them. Had they known they could just use her as a DNA bank and powered up their own warriors to God-like levels, there’d be no question of their universal supremacy. The more you know. Let’s hope they don’t watch Secret Invasion.
