As far as the last twenty years are concerned, two of the biggest cultural phenomenons in the fantasy genre include the MCU is just as scientific as it is magical, while Harry Potter focuses primarily on spells, magical creatures and other things included.
Despite their many differences, what these two universes have in common is not only they're highly popular and loved by millions of fans but they also include many great characters. Some Harry Potter and the MCU heroes are then more alike than even the fans might think.
Iron Man: Sirius Black
Sirius might not be a genius inventor like Iron Man but he's far from stupid. He was a good student, intelligent, and popular among his fellow students.
He was also good with girls and people generally loved him. Tony's success with the ladies is a well-known fact, just like his intelligence is. Both these men had family issues and also had to break out of a place that was a deadly trap a less resilient person would perish in.
Hulk: Rubeus Hagrid
What Hulk and Hagrid have in common (besides their name starting with the letter 'h') is that they may seem frightening to the rest of the world, especially those who don't know them. After all, they're both giants, at least in comparison with most of the people.
But they have a soft spot for their friends and would do anything for them. Hulk and Hagrid might not be the smartest people in the world (Bruce Banner is something else) but they have a heart of gold.
Spider-Man: Ginny Weasley
Of all the male Spider-Man is actually most similar to Ginny Weasley. Both of them started out like young heroes who made serious mistakes and had to learn from the consequences. Peter was partially responsible for his uncle's death and Ginny released a powerful evil into the world when she was using Tom Riddle's diary.
However, they learned their lesson and eventually grew into powerful people who might still be young but aren't afraid to stand up to the evil. Plus, they're both athletic and have a strong sense of humor.
Black Widow: Nymphadora Tonks
Black Widow looks more serious and strict than Nymphadora, at least at first but she actually has a strong sense of humor and isn't afraid to joke from time to time. What connects them is the fact that they both were multiple people during their lives.
Natasha served as a spy and Nymphadora has the ability to change what she looks like which gives them a lot of opportunities to transform themselves but also made it difficult for them to find the right path.
Hawkeye: Harry Potter
Of all the MCU superheroes, Hawkeye and Harry probably have most in common. Hawkeye might not be the Chosen One, destined to fight an evil sorcerer, but he's a talented hero with a particular set of skills - just like Harry is since he excelled at one area of magic and was bad at another.
Their families are very important for them and Harry and Clint are both devoted dads to their children and love their wives deeply.
Star-Lord: Arthur Weasley
Good-hearted and somewhat goofy at times, Star-Lord and Arthur Weasley are similar in a lot of ways. For one, the importance of family is something they both realize very well. Star-Lord lost his mom at a young age and Arthur loves his seven children and his wife very much.
What's more, they sometimes look out of place even in the world where they grew up and other people tend to underestimate them - even though that's a dangerous mistake.
Groot: Neville Longbottom
This may seem like a stretch at first but considering Neville's love for nature and all things living (and yes, that also includes trees), he and Groot are a good match. They both may look like goofy sidekicks at first but there's more to them than meets the eye.
Groot is an important member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and he saved the day more than once. Neville also proved he was more than just the former bumbling shy boy when he killed Voldemort's snake Nagini and defended Hogwarts from Death Eaters.
Rocket Raccoon: Alastor Moody
As far as biting quips and sarcastic remarks are concerned, nobody does them better than Rocket Raccoon... and Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody. Both of them are moody, and yes, somewhat mad. But also good and loyal friends, the type of person who will always come to a friend's aid even though they might pretend to be grumpy because of it.
They're not afraid to share a piece of their mind and will always say what they think, no matter to whom they're speaking.
Ant-Man: George Weasley
Just Like Scott, George may not have excelled at everything and had trouble following the expected way of life - but he managed to build a different life, and it was a good one, one he was great at. Scott and George share a strong sense of humor that sometimes gets them in trouble but also helps them to make friends and makes other people like them (most of the time, anyway).
They're also both devoted to their families even when they might joke about it.
Doctor Strange: Severus Snape
Even before Stephen Strange became a superhero and a wizard, he was excellent at treating people. Just like Snape helped Dumbledore when the curse residing in his hand threatened to spread and he prolonged Dumbledore's life this way.
Strange and Snape may seem arrogant to other people and they look like they would make excellent villains but they always have a backup plan and will do whatever they can to make sure the good side wins.
