This article contains spoilers for Moon Knight episode 6.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Disney+ TV shows like Moon Knight embracing sorcery and the supernatural.

Moon Knight introduced the Ammit was far more powerful than Khonshu - who was only really believed in by his avatar. It's a fascinating idea, presumably explaining how all the races of gods operate in the MCU, but there's just one problem; it clashes massively with Thor, Odin, and the Asgardians.

The average Asgardians don't seem to possess anywhere near the powers of Khonshu and Ammit, but their greatest figures - the likes of Odin, Thor, and Hela - exceed them by far. This was true even in the first Thor film, set at a time when humanity had largely believed the gods of Asgard to be mythical beings and the worship of the Norse gods had declined on Earth. No doubt Thor's presence on Earth led to a resurgence in the Norse religion - Korean Church of Asgard, suggesting as much - but their power levels were far too significant even before this if these gods draw power from faith.

There may, however, be a solution to this problem. There appear to have been around 50,000 Asgardians in the first Thor film, and the majority of them do not possess powers on the scale of Odin, Thor, or even Heimdall - whose ability to summon the Bifrost with dark magic is impressive in itself. It's possible there's a sort of symbiotic relationship between the Asgardians' most powerful beings and the rest of their race, with the Asgardians' faith in their leaders serving as something of a power battery. This is ed by the fact that in Thor: Ragnarok, Valkyrie notes that both Thor and Hela draw their power from Asgard but Odin notes that Asgard is not a place, but the people who make it. If this is indeed the case, it's interesting to speculate about the power levels the remaining Asgardians operate on now their numbers have been so diminished and they live on Earth, in the New Asgard community in Tønsberg, Norway.

The idea the gods are empowered by the faith of their believers is one lifted straight from the comics, specifically J. Michael Straczynski's iconic Thor run. This was set after the final Ragnarok, with the gods of Asgard restored because they lived on, in the hearts and minds of mortals. The same could be true in the MCU as well, with the gods brought back due to human faith despite the destruction of Asgard; Jane Foster could potentially play a key role in renewing Asgard, simply because no other human being knows the ways of the Asgardian gods better than Jane. Thus, surprisingly, Moon Knight's apparent continuity problem when it comes to Thor's power could prove key to Asgard's return in the MCU.
