Marvel is reportedly working on a second spinoff series for Disney+ called Vision Quest, but most of its story has already been told in the MCU. In the comics, the "Vision Quest" storyline is one of the character's most essential arcs, with it changing nearly every aspect of the synthezoid superhero. While the Vision Quest title may reference the popular comic storyline, most of these big changes already occurred in WandaVision, meaning that the new show will have to need a completely different plot.
Vision hasn't appeared in the MCU for a while. He was last seen in WandaVision where Wanda's magically revived version of the synthezoid character has his consciousness transferred into a new White Vision body, which then flies away from Westview. While most of WandaVision's loose threads were tied up in White Vision's next MCU appearance is still unconfirmed, but while most of the "Vision Quest" storyline was already depicted on screen, there are other possibilities for what Vision Quest could be about, including plots involving Ironheart, Wonder Man, and the founding of the West Coast Avengers.
What Happened In Marvel Comics' Vision Quest Story?
In Marvel Comics, the "Vision Quest" arc takes place throughout West Coast Avengers #42-45. Seeing the Vision as a threat, government agents kidnap the hero and completely dismantle him, wiping his humanity and giving him chalk-white skin. The newly-created White Vision completely lacks emotions, causing his relationship with Wanda to end. Vision also discovers that his and Wanda's children are mere illusions, causing him to leave the West Coast Avengers and move back to New York. While most of these changes were made due to a new writer not liking Vision's humanity-driven character, the story has become essential to the synthezoid Avenger, with much of it being told in WandaVision.
What Quest Could Vision Go On In His Disney+ Show?
Avengers: Age of Ultron), and Vision Quest will most likely be another example of this. While it's unknown if White Vision will appear again before Vision Quest, there are a lot of big changes coming to the MCU that may influence the character's story.
Being that Vision is partly the creation of Tony Stark, it seems likely that Vision Quest will involve elements introduced in the MCU projects Ironheart and the Armor Wars movie, both of which will heavily feature Stark technology. Vision Quest could also continue the story of Wonder Man, as the two titular characters are closely related in the comics, with Vision's brain patterns being modeled after those of Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man. Vision Quest could also follow White Vision founding the West Coast Avengers after the events of WandaVision, as Wonder Man, U.S. Agent, Hawkeye, The Wasp, and more from the comics' team are now active in the MCU.
