After eight weeks of fans trying to understand exactly what was going on, and ultimately still not getting all the pieces of the puzzle, it has unsurprisingly led to split opinions on many of the elements of WandaVision. Being a show that perpetually creates puzzles with seemingly every line of dialogue, WandaVision kind of shot itself in the foot by leaving audiences guessing week after week.

It led to fans creating their own theories, and the show inherently rubbed audiences the wrong way when those theories didn’t come true. Because of this, the internet is laden with hot takes and unpopular opinions about the first Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ show, so much that it’ll be a breath of fresh air when the more straightforward Falcon and The Winter Soldier hits the streaming service in the coming weeks.

The First Two Sitcom Episodes Were Redundant

One Redditor followed the typical tropes of sitcoms from those eras.

But given that the comedy is totally outdated and the show's slow pacing, it irked some viewers the wrong way. However, the aesthetic is second to none, as WandaVision managed to  completely true to the era.

The Disappointment For The Series Finale Is Our Own

Though it’s a hot take, it makes a lot of sense, as many fans created so many theories that were so imaginative and out-of-this-world that they all wanted them to be true. Whether it was the idea of John Krasinski turning up as Reed Richards or Mephisto showing up on the scene, fans got these ideas and followed through with them so much that the disappointment was inevitable.

At the end of the day, it was always Wanda’s story and about her dealing with her grief, and something like Mr. Fantastic turning up would have defeated the whole purpose of the series.

Episode 8 Was A Let Down

WandaVision Episode 8 Maximoff Family Watching TV

After the big reveal at the end of the seventh episode, which showed the audience that Agatha was pulling the strings the whole time, the eighth episode didn’t exactly follow through on that. A few fans think that the eighth episode was a letdown because of how Agatha’s impact was completely reduced.

It was Wanda who created the hex, not Agatha, and for that reason, it has been argued that Agatha hadn’t actually done anything wrong based on how little she knows in episode eight.

The Ralph Bohner Joke Was Better Than An X-Men Quicksilver Reveal

One of the show’s biggest questions and many of the fans’ theories surround Pietro, a.k.a. Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, who famously plays the same character in the X-Men universe.

Many thought that it was the MCU’s way of introducing mutants into the universe and at the same time creating the multiverse, and it led to huge disappointment when that wasn’t the case. Instead, what fans got was a lame joke when Pietro’s real name was revealed to be Ralph Bohner. However, a small minority thought that was actually better than the fan theories since this kept WandaVision as a personal story.

Hayward Is A Good Guy

Though making Wanda the villain is one of the things about the comics that the show ignored, some Redditors have speculated that Hayward is a good guy or at least a much better person than Wanda is.

Most fans are quick to point to the fact that he tried to kill Wanda and he even attempted to murder the children, but Wanda had an entire town under mind-control, and it was even Wanda who technically killed her children at the end of the day. This has led a select few to believe that Hayward really was trying to do the right thing.

Wanda Projecting Traditional American Ads Makes No sense

Stark Industries Toaster Commercial in WandaVision

The commercials in the fictionalized sitcoms created by Wanda were one of the highlights of the whole series, as they were used as both metaphors of what was going on and had some deep references that only true fans would get. However, one Redditor has not just a hot take, but they make a good point too.

It’s revealed in the eighth episode that Wanda is aware of all of these US sitcoms because she watched them on VHS when she was a child, but if that’s the case, she couldn’t possibly have any knowledge of what the commercials were like during the time period.

The Show Led Fans To Expect A Big Twist

One Redditor argues that it wasn’t fans’ fault for expecting a grand finale, but that the fault lies with the show itself. And to the ’s credit, the finale left them with so many unanswered questions that hinted at some huge plot twist.

Audiences never found out what happened to the beekeeper or who the person in witness protection was that Jimmy Woo referred to early in the series. On top of that, it didn’t exactly help when people like Paul Bettany teased fans about a big reveal.

White Vision Was A Let Down

WandaVision White Vision

The series finale was polarizing not only because it ended without a big reveal that was expected, but it also caused a slight rift among fans when Vision went up against... himself.

It was one of the many problems brought up about the finale, as it wasn’t just the one time when somebody went up against another being that just happened to have the exact same powers in the final episode, as the same thing happens with Wanda and Agatha. However, White Vision’s presence and the epic battle of wits he has with the “real” Vision was one of the most fascinating and intellectual moments in the entire MCU.

Darcy, Monica, and Woo’s Scenes Together Were Painful

WandaVision: Jimmy Woo, Darcy Lewis, Monica Rambeau

When it came down to the working relationship between Darcy and Jimmy, a slither of fans called it cringeworthy and compared it to the worst episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The fact that Darcy is constantly standing up to the man in charge in every scene came off as a little forced.

And even though she’s one of the most heroic characters, some fans felt like Monica was dumbed down in their presence too. However, they’re in the minority, as Jimmy Woo was by far one of the most acclaimed and fun aspects about the entire series.

The Agatha Harkness Reveal Was Just Dumb

The whole “Agatha All Along” climax of the seventh episode had fans in a frenzy, and though it was obvious from the beginning that Agnes was really the iconic Marvel villain Agatha Harkness, some have argued that it came out of nowhere.

But even to people who aren’t all clued up about the comics and only know what has been told to them in the movies, it was clear that there was always something a bit off about Agnes. If you expected the reveal, then many felt it was disappointing and if you didn't, some still didn't care for it.
