Set a century after the events of the Mega Man X series, the first four Mega Man Zero titles were released on the GameBoy Advance and followed the titular Maverick Hunter Zero as he battles various robotic villains across various side-scrolling environments. The following two games, titled Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent, were released on the Nintendo DS and told the story of a new group of selectable protagonists as they fought to protect the fragile peace between humans and robots by “Megamerging” into more powerful forms via “Biometals.”

This is the latest in a series of Mega Man re-releases on current-gen consoles, starting with PlayStation 1-era Mega Man Legends or the DS-based Mega Man Star Force – to the current generation, but those plans could change in the future.

Still, the chance to replay the Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX games on home consoles is an exciting prospect for fans of the franchise, especially with how bright, fast and smooth the in-game graphics look on current hardware. The Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX titles are beloved by fans due to their more mature storytelling and evolved gameplay, and these traits are on full display in the updated re-release. Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is available now, allowing fans the world over to fire up their Z-Sabers and battle to save the future.
