Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers Assemble: Alpha #1Marvel's Mephisto and his multiverse-spanning Council of Red. In Avengers Assemble: Alpha #1, the Marvel equivalent of Satan seeks the God Quarry...and DC fans will immediately know the "source" of this location.
In 2021's Heroes Reborn event (also spearheaded by Jason Aaron), the entire Marvel Universe was turned upside-down as the Squadron Supreme replaced the Avengers, the heroes of the universe never met, and only Blade ed the world as it once was. The entire affair was masterminded by Mephisto, who created this reality as a proof-of-concept to show the other infinite Mephistos of the Multiverse. Now, Mephisto and his army attack every corner of the Marvel Universe as three major teams of Avengers band together to stop him.
In Avengers Assemble: Alpha #1, written by Jason Aaron, Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie & Alex Sinclair, the Mephistos set their sights on the "God Quarry", a mysterious location within the Marvel Multiverse. It is the boundary between all existence and the "first firmament" where sits the nothingness from which creation sprung. The mysterious Avenger Prime lives inside an Avengers Tower overlooking the God Quarry, and has monitored the position for eons (similar to the Watcher). But it is the God Quarry that draws readers' attention; the locations bears a striking resemblance to DC's Source Wall.
The God Quarry Sounds A Lot Like DC's Source Wall
In DC Comics lore, the Source Wall surrounds the DC Universe, creating a barrier between existence and the mysterious "Source". The Wall is made up of massive humanoid figures: Promethean Giants, the bodies of dead gods and other beings with tremendous power. Almost all beings who attempt to breach the wall - even if they possess tremendous cosmic power - are doomed to become part of it. As for the Source itself, it is heavily hinted to be one aspect of The Presence, the DC equivalent to the Judeo-Christian God (in the Marvel Universe, this figure is known as the One Above All, and has been represented on at least one occasion by legendary Marvel artist and Stan Lee collaborator Jack Kirby).
It appears that Mephisto will actually win this battle; the horde of demons from the multiverse breach the God Quarry and attempt to take the tower. There appears to be no hope for the Avengers (especially since Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes, can no longer transform). Regardless, Mephisto's goal seems to be a fundamental aspect of the DC Universe, borrowed liberally by Marvel.
