American Idol season 23 will welcome country music superstar Miranda Lambert as the mentor for the Top 10 finalists during Women in Music Night, and I'm so thrilled because, after seeing her in concert twice, I know that she'll be the best mentor yet. Miranda is a Grammy-winning country music legend, who's the most awarded artist in the history of the Academy of Country Music Awards and one of only four women to win that awards show's Triple Crown (Best New Vocalist, Best Female Vocalist, and Entertainer of the Year). Miranda is also the most awarded female artist in the history of the Country Music Association Awards.

Miranda has sold over nine million albums, and her first seven studio albums have all been certified platinum. Now, she'll American Idol season 23 as the mentor for Women in Music Night, guiding the Top 10 finalists--Thunderstorm Artis, John Foster, Canaan James Hill, Kolbi Jordan, Josh King, Slater Nalley, Breanna Nix, Mattie Pruitt, Jamal Roberts, and Gabby Samone--as they compete for America's votes. After seeing Miranda in concert twice because she's one of my favorite music artists, I know that she's the perfect mentor for the American Idol contestants.

Miranda Lambert Has An Extraordinary Singing Voice

Miranda Will Encourage The American Idol Top 10 Finalists To Make The Most Of Their Gifts

I've had the pleasure of seeing Miranda live in concert twice, in two very different venues. The first time that I ever saw her perform live was in 2010 at Terminal 5 in New York City, which is a very small concert space. The second time that I saw Miranda in concert was at the much larger Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. She was absolutely phenomenal in both venues, and I was so impressed by how she was able to work both stages and completely fill both places with her infectious positive energy.

I will always the excitement I felt as I heard Miranda sing the songs I'd been singing along to for years, and how blown away I was by her perfect vocals. It was exhilarating to hear her sing songs such as "Airstream Song," "The House That Built Me," "More Like Her," and, my personal favorite, "Dead Flowers." Her voice was clear, strong, and beautiful, and she somehow sounded even better than she does on her albums.

Because Miranda has such an extraordinary singing voice, I think that she'll help the American Idol Top 10 finalists to make the most of their gifts. During the Iconic American Idol Moments Night episode, judge Carrie Underwood made a comment to Kolbi after her sensational performance of "Over The Rainbow" that really made sense to me. Kolbi is known for singing impressive runs, but Carrie told her that sometimes simple is better, and the notes that she sang without any runs were gorgeous. She wanted to hear more of that from her.

As a country singer, Miranda doesn't rely on runs in her songs, and I hope that she encourages contestants such as Canaan, Jamal, and Gabby to dial it back a bit, and allow their more simple notes to shine. Miranda is such a naturally magnificent singer, and so I think that she'll have a lot of advice to offer the contestants about their vocal choices. After hearing her sing live in concert, I know that Miranda has the expertise necessary to be a fantastic vocal coach to the American Idol season 23 contestants.

Miranda Has Spectacular Sass & Star Quality

Miranda Will Inspire The American Idol Contestants To Work On Their Stage Presence

During American Idol season 23 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night, Carrie told 16-year-old Top 10 finalist Mattie that she needed to inject some sass into her performances after she sang Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart." I know that there's no one better to teach Mattie how to be sassy than the queen of sass herself, Miranda.

When Miranda performed her playful songs, "Only Prettier" and "White Liar," live when I saw her in concert, she was so sassy and spunky. She also exuded a bit of danger when she rocked out to "Kerosene" and "Gunpowder and Lead." Miranda infuses every one of her electrifying performances with her bold personality, and she could teach the American Idol contestants how to do the same. Many of them, including Mattie, have been very timid this year, and it's time for them to come out of their shells. I believe that Miranda will be the mentor who makes that happen because she'll inspire the contestants with her confidence and star quality.

Miranda Knows How To Work The Crowd

Miranda Will Help The American Idol Finalists To Interact More With The Audience

Some of the American Idol season 23 Top 10 finalists are comfortable interacting with the audience, including Thunderstorm, who walked around and touched hands with people during his Iconic American Idol Moments Night performance of "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals. However, some of the contestants haven't had much audience interaction yet.

I'm Convinced Carrie Underwood Isn't The Issue On American Idol Season 23 Amid Signs The Show Should Be Retooled

American Idol season 23 has been a bit of a disappointment, but new judge Carrie Underwood isn't the reason why the show's been struggling.

During Miranda's concerts, she rocks out and seems so alive. She interacts with the audience, speaking directly to the people in between her songs, and allowing her emotions to pour out on stage. When I saw her perform, I felt as though she was a friend speaking directly to me, and I think that she can help the American Idol contestants to make more of a connection with the studio audience and the viewers at home. This will result in them earning more votes.

Miranda Has Experience With Competing In A Singing Competition Show

Miranda Will Relate To The American Idol Contestants

Although I think that her live performance experience is one of the main reasons that Miranda will make a terrific American Idol mentor, I also believe that the fact that she once competed in the USA Network reality singing competition series Nashville Star will help her relate to the contestants. In 2003, Miranda placed third in Nashville Star season 1. Since then, she's become a country music superstar, so she'll be able to offer the Top 10 finalists advice not only about their performances on American Idol, but also about how to keep their music careers going after it ends.

Miranda Has Been An Advisor On The Voice

Miranda Will Use Her Experience To Guide The American Idol Contestants

American Idol isn't the first time that Miranda will work with singing competition series contestants. She was a Battle Advisor during The Voice season 2 for Team Blake Shelton, and also during season 6 for Team Shakira. Miranda has the experience necessary to help the contestants, and I think that this, combined with her incredible artistry, will make her the perfect American Idol mentor.

I was so happy when I heard that Miranda will be the next American Idol season 23 mentor. After seeing her in concert twice, I know that she's one of the best live singers and performers. She has that special something that's difficult to duplicate, but I think that she'll work her magic with the Top 10 finalists. I can't wait to see Miranda's American Idol episode, and I hope that I have the chance to see her live again very soon.

American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
