One of the most uncommon enemies you may come across in Metaphor: ReFantazio are Elementa, but the nature of these creatures makes them hard to beat. Elementa of different colors flee in battle the first chance they get on their turn. This makes it difficult to farm EXP or MAG from them, despite their lack of attacks that can harm anyone in your party.
Elementa are basically just Mitama enemies from Shin Megami Tensei 5, acting as elusive enemies that choose to run away in a fight. However, managing to take down Elementa will give your party great rewards, so they are worth taking down when you get the chance. There are four different types of Elementa, each with its own weaknesses you can exploit to defeat them easily.
How To Defeat Elmenta Fast
Stun Or Delay Enemy Turns
Elementa have no attacking power and flee the moment it becomes their turn, making it wise to delay an Elementa's turn for as long as possible. You can accomplish this in a variety of ways, from stunning the creature to targeting its elemental weakness. To stun an Elementa, simply attack it in the overworld and drain its yellow stun meter before entering combat against one.
Stunning a creature by attacking it enough times in the overworld causes it to miss its first turn, giving you an extra round to damage and defeat an Elementa you encounter.
You have a chance to encounter four different types of Elementa along your journey - the Blue, Red, Green, or Golden Elementa. By using specific elemental skills of Archetypes you unlock in ReFantazio, you can deal more damage to these creatures in the limited time you have before they flee. Here are the elemental vulnerabilities of each Elementa type:
- Blue - Weak to Fire
- Red - Weak to Ice
- Green - Weak to Electric
- Golden - Weak to Wind
Once you hit an Elementa with its elemental weakness, you might score a Critical hit for an extra turn with whichever character hits the creature. Some Physical attacks may also deal a Critical hit if you have a party member using an Archetype focused on that type of damage. Try out both methods to see if luck is on your side to make defeating an Elementa take little effort.

Metaphor: ReFantazio - How To Purify Weapons
You'll occasionally find weapons and armor that can be purified in Metaphor: ReFantazio, but you'll need to unlock this feature before you can use it.
While no specific Archetype is considered the "best" for defeating Elementa, you'll want to use one with an elemental affinity that targets a weakness. Don't bother with status ailments in ReFantazio against Elementa, as they will flee before conditions can take effect. Beating an Elementa is essentially a DPS check of the Protagonist and their allies.
How To Farm Elmenta For EXP & MAG
Wear A Special Item For Better Odds
Elementa spawn rarely in dungeons or aboard the Gauntlet Runner, but each area only contains one type of Elementa. Alongside EXP and MAG, Elementa can drop other items you may find useful later. Out of all the places you can farm Elementa for rewards, here are the locations containing each type:

Metaphor: ReFantazio Review: A Fantastical Adventure That Redefines JRPGs
Atlus has breached new territory with Metaphor: ReFantazio and in doing so has delivered a high-fantasy JRPG that's unlike anything we could've hoped.
To effectively farm Elementa, you can always increase the bonds in Metaphor: ReFantazio with your party to increase their skill damage. The Archetypes of characters you've formed relationships with deal higher damage, allowing you to kill Elementa faster. This is especially important on higher difficulties, where Elementa have far more health to endure your attacks before escaping.
Another strategy for farming Elementa is to use items that deal damage if your party isn't equipped to fight the enemy. Some items can deal damage that target an Elementa's weakness if you don't have the right Archetype in your party to deal with them. Make sure to buy items you need on Idlesday since all vendor objects are sold at a 20% discount during this event.
One item great for Elementa farming is called the Phantasmal Doll, which you can get from the Grand Trad magic shop at night for 49,000 Reeve. This item lets a character that has it equipped go twice at the start of a fight, allowing you more time to deal damage to an Elementa.
Elementa give out a massive amount of EXP and MAG when taken down, far more than basic enemies you usually face in a dungeon. It may take some trial and error to find out the perfect sequence to beat any Elementa in Metaphor: ReFantazio, but once you have a reliable method, you'll be able to beat these enemies fast.
