Cooking in Metaphor: ReFantazio is a very important activity that can really help you improve your character. Unlike some games where cooking might be a simple side activity, Metaphor: ReFantazio integrates it into the main gameplay loop. While the initial days might feel like you’re just gathering ingredients, you’ll discover the true value of cooking as the game progresses. It’s more than just a way to make tasty meals; it’s about crafting potent items to improve your party's abilities and even turn the tide of battle.

The process involves gathering rare ingredients from various locations, some requiring exploration, others purchased from merchants, and some found through fishing. As you unlock more recipes and Speed Cooking, cooking will become a regular part of your gameplay. The challenge comes from finding the right ingredients, but it's worth every minute you spend doing so. Getting better at cooking also involves raising your follower bonds, which is an excellent part of the game.

How To Start Cooking in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Where To Begin Your Culinary Enterprise

To start cooking in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you must get past the game's beginning and reach 6/24. This is when the Tournament for the Throne begins, and you will get your very own Gauntlet Runner. This acts as your mobile home, taking you across the land and through the kingdom. The kitchen itself is the second door on the right when you walk down the back hallway. Once inside, you'll be able to start cooking.

Keep in mind that cooking can only be done while the Gauntlet Runner is going to a new location. This means you can only cook during the time spent traveling to a city or area, not while exploring. Unfortunately, it takes an entire day to prepare a single dish. This can be byed by getting Speed Cooking, which is explained further down this guide. However, until you meet Maria in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you have to deal with the slow cooking time.
