one of the most beloved JRPG series on the market but the companies are now trying something different. Bringing along several key creators, Atlus aims to breathe new life into the formula by giving fans an entirely new world.
As pointed out by video game journalist Jason Schreier on X (formerly Twitter), Persona fans should pay attention to October 11 which is the release date of Metaphor: ReFantazio.
It may not be Persona in name but with the creative team consisting of several people who made the series what it is today, one can rest assured that it should make the wait for Persona 6 easier. While some may be turned off by the fact that Metaphor takes place in an original world known as the United Kingdom of Euchronia, the mechanics and presentation should be very familiar.
Why Persona Fans Should Care About Metaphor
Bringing Great Minds Together
Perhaps the most exciting thing about Metaphor: ReFantazio is that developer Studio Zero, an internal division of Atlus, features prominent creators behind the most recent Persona games. The project is directed by Katsura Hashino, who helmed Persona 5 and worked as a producer on Persona 4 Golden, and will feature character designs by Shigenori Soejima, who has contributed to every game in the Persona series. Metaphor's score is composed by Shoji Meguro, who has been working with Atlus since 1996.
Mechanically speaking, Metaphor: ReFantazio will feature many elements fans have come to love about Persona. Players will need to manage their days to explore the world, hunt through dungeons, and spend time with friends and allies, upgrading stats and skills along the way. The turn-based combat system will see the Protagonist and their party channel massive creatures, all presented in a style that will be instantly familiar to anyone who's played Persona 5 Royal.

Persona 5 Mechanics Persona 6 Should Definitely Avoid
In the process of creating the game Persona 6, developers at Atlus should elect not to bring back certain features from Persona 5.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is slated to launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on October 11. Having been announced in 2016, the game's lengthy development period will have hopefully paid off. If anything, more Persona fans should definitely be excited for next month.
