Rumor has it that fans may get an extended look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. According to a prolific podcast host, the highly anticipated game will overshadow the other titles in the presentation.
Podcaster Reece Reilly, better known as kiwitalkz, hyped up the long-awaited sequel's presence in the presentation in an X post (via Nintendo Life), writing that the game's "true unveiling will blow everything else in the direct out of the water."
In a follow-up reply, Reilly said that he was "90% certain" that Metroid Prime 4 would feature in the Direct, which streams on April 2. He added that Nintendo is constantly "tweaking directs right down to the last minute."
What This Metroid Prime 4 Rumor Could Mean
After Long Silence, Nintendo May Surprise And Stun Audiences With Metroid
It's been over seven years since the announcement of Metroid Prime 4, so expectations are understandably high for the game. It took until last June for it to get a proper first look and a subtitle, and while Nintendo only confirmed Metroid Prime 4 for the current Nintendo Switch, speculation is already rampant about whether the game will have a native Nintendo Switch 2 version. The slivers of gameplay that fans have seen from Metroid Prime 4 display impressive graphics for the aging Switch hardware, so a Switch 2 version could be a visual showcase in the Direct.

2025 Is Shaping Up To Be One Of The Biggest Years For Nintendo As Company Doubles Down On Pokémon & Metroid Prime 4 Releases
Pokémon and Metroid titles are still scheduled for a 2025 release, according to a Nintendo financial report that also reveals Switch sales and more.
Previous Retro Studios titles have pushed the boundaries of Nintendo hardware, with the original Metroid Prime using advanced graphical techniques for the GameCube and its remaster bringing it to modern standards on Nintendo Switch. It would be no surprise to Nintendo fans if Retro continued this trend and set a standard for visual fidelity on the Switch 2 through Metroid Prime 4.
How Likely Is This Metroid Prime 4 Rumor?
Metroid Could Lead A Nintendo Launch Like It Never Has Before
If Nintendo were to release a Switch 2 version of Metroid Prime 4 and even launch its new console with the title, the Metroid series would be put in a new position reserved for the company's bigger franchises. Normally, titles like Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess accompany a new Nintendo console, as the Mario and Zelda properties drive higher sales numbers.
As for how reliable the leak is, Reilly's YouTube channel has amassed over 9 million views and features several interview videos with developers associated with Bethesda, Valve, and Metroid Prime studio Retro Studios, demonstrating his industry connections. Whether or not it shows up in the Nintendo Direct, Metroid Prime 4 will certainly be a significant player in Nintendo's big 2025 plans.
While a Metroid Dread was an impressive demonstration for the Nintendo Switch OLED, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond could do the same for Nintendo Switch 2 on a larger scale.
