This confirms that Deku will indeed end up quirkless by the end of the series with Kudo's plan confirming a popular fan theory that One For All would be used to overwhelm Shigaraki from within. While using the force from the transference of One For All is an unexpected approach, it aligns with the established rules of the quirk and its overwhelming power that Deku has struggled to regulate throughout the series.

Kudo explains how the transference of OFA will damage Shigaraki from the inside in the process in My Hero Academia-1

As revealed in chapter #412, Shigaraki has seemingly wrapped his old vulnerable self under layers of anger, frustration, and hatred which has the form of a solid sphere which chapter #413 describes as his "unshakable resolve." However, the latest chapter also reveals a crack in this resolve, one that Star and Stripe points out to All Might and Kudo too notices. This leads to Kudo's plan to transfer One For All to Shigaraki, hoping that doing so with enough force will expand this crack in Shigaraki's core, and also fracture One For All, making it unusable.

In turn, this could ensure that Shigaraki will not be able to use its individual quirks, as Shigaraki getting a hold of Gearshift or even Fa-Jin would surely be catastrophic and spell doom for all of hero society. If so, destroying One For All does seem like the better option in comparison. However, this also means that Deku's fate has been sealed. Fans may be in for a heartbreaking farewell as the destruction of One For All could also imply the destruction of the vestiges of the previous s who have guided Deku all this time.

Powerful as it may be, Deku has only been using a fraction of One For All's power for a major part of the series and has constantly suffered the backlash of its power. Even Deku's strongest quirk, Gearshift, came with massive recoil. One For All has not only shortened the lifespans of its previous s but has constantly pushed Deku's body to the limit despite him being the perfect vessel. In fact, many may still how Deku was forced to train his body even before he could receive One For All at all, which only goes to prove the overwhelming power of the quirk.

However, in an odd twist of fate, Deku can now finally use One For All's biggest drawback to his advantage to take down Shigaraki and prevent him from stealing any more of One For All's vestiges. Nonetheless, it appears that the series finale may end up being more bittersweet than fans could have ever anticipated. Deku's journey in My Hero Academia has been a long but fulfilling one and sad as it may be to see him quirkless again, giving up One For All certainly makes him an even greater hero.
