Warning: Spoilers for My Hero Academia, Volume 42My Hero Academia is back for one last deluge of new information with the release of the final volume of the manga in Japan, and included in that is the hero rankings for the post-timeskip period seen in the epilogue. The rankings are quite surprising, with a mix of familiar pro hero names and the now-graduated UA students.
The hero rankings were a major part of the series for most of My Hero Academia, with a heavy focus on the competition for the #1 spot between All Might and Endeavor, even after Endeavor had secured the position. The charts were only updated once throughout the series' run, so it's interesting to see a new take on the rankings. The final chapter had indicated that the hero rankings work very differently in the post-timeskip days than they used to, and the rankings provided would seem to back that up with some of the included characters in the new Top 20.
Mirio is My Hero Academia's New Top Hero
Sir Nighteye's Desired Successor to All Might Reached #1
It was implied in the final chapter that Mirio was the top-ranked hero, but the new epilogue confirms it, placing Mirio, AKA Lemillion, at #1. Sir Nighteye claimed to have seen this in Mirio's future, and it seems he was right in his constant of Mirio. #2 is currently Shouto Todoroki, although unlike his father, he's not as infuriated at the thought of not being the top-ranked hero. These two former UA students are then followed up by several established pros, such as Mt. Lady at #3, Kamui Woods at #4, Best Jeanist at #5, and Mirko at #6. It's amazing to see Mirko is still active as a hero almost a decade later, despite the injuries she suffered.
#7 is the next student, Nejire Hado, followed by Wash, then Shoji at #9, and Class 1-B's Monoma at #10. Following on from there, Fat Gum is #11, Kirishima is #12, Iida is #13, Honenuki (Class 1-B's Mudman) is #14, and shockingly, #15 is Bakugo. #16 is Inasa Yoarashi from Shiketsu, while #17 is Tokoyami, #18 is Tamaki Amajiki (AKA Sun Eater), #19 is Momo Yaoyorozu, and #20 is Yo Shindo, from Ketsubutsu High School. The rankings actually go on much longer, listing out almost everyone who's active as a pro hero (although not those who are sidekicks to other heroes at the moment).
The Hero Rankings Reveal The Truth About Bakugo
Bakugo May Have the Power, But He Doesn't Have the Personality for #1
Despite his declarations about becoming the #1 hero, it would seem that Bakugo's ranking is actually struggling quite a bit, likely due to incidents and outbursts caused by his bad behavior. Even with all the time that has ed, Bakugo still hasn't been able to fully get a grasp on his rage, and it's costing him big time in the rankings. No doubt Bakugo has ranked higher than #15 at some point, but if he can't keep a cool head around the public, he's never going to be #1. Mirio, by contrast, is a much more pleasant figure to have as My Hero Academia's top hero, and unless Bakugo gets himself together, it's likely to stay that way.
