The fifth collaboration between Coogler and Jordan could be released before MCU's Blade reboot, which currently has a release date of late 2025. With reports suggesting that a vampire period piece, has an excellent shot of coming out before the heavily delayed Blade, which has been pushed back a bunch of times and now has a far-out November 7, 2025 release date.

Marvel has been planning its Blade reboot for 5 years after being originally announced back in 2019 with Mahershala Ali to star. Ali was unsatisfied with the screenplay as recently as 2023 and demanded rewrites, causing a delay in production that was further exacerbated by the dual WGA and SAG strikes last year. Thanks to Coogler and Jordan, however, audiences might get a vampire movie with a period setting, which was reported for Blade at one point, from two people heavily involved in the MCU ironically before the MCU actually does it.

The Coogler & Jordan project is currently untitled.

Coogler and Jordan's untitled project won't have any shared universe constraints as it had with both the Creed and Black Panther franchises.

Coogler and Jordan's vampire period piece is arguably more exciting than the MCU's Blade reboot considering how fantastic their track record has been. The project has great momentum behind it and has seemingly come together quickly and smoothly compared to Blade's bumpy road to production, which suggests a great deal of faith in the project. Additionally, Coogler and Jordan's untitled project won't have any shared universe constraints as it had with both the Creed and Black Panther franchises. Why The MCU's Blade Reboot Is Taking So Long

The timeline for Marvel's Blade reboot dates back to before the 2020 pandemic. After being announced in 2019, COVID-19 caused Blade's initial delays, which were exacerbated by the 2023 dual WGA and SAG strikes, as well as Ali's dissatisfaction with the original screenplay. Marvel had previously announced in 2013 that they were working on developing a Blade reboot with Wesley Snipes possibly set to reprise his iconic role. After the breakout success of Ali in films such as Moonlight (2016) and Green Book (2018), for which he won two Best ing Actor Oscars, Marvel recast Blade with Ali as the titular protagonist.

Ali has already appeared in the MCU as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes in Luke Cage. After Ali's casting was officially announced in 2019, he first briefly portrayed Blade in an uncredited voice cameo in a post-credits scene of Eternals (2021). A creative team for Blade was not put together until February 2021. Director Bassam Tariq left the project due to creative differences, which led to the hiring of Yann Demange. Stacy Osei-Kuffour wrote the Blade reboot screenplay only to have it rewritten and worked on by three different writers, including True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto and Blade Runner 2049 screenwriter Michael Green.
