critically acclaimed, R-rated Parasite, which became a global hit. Mickey 17's story is adapted from Edward Ashton's 2002 science-fiction novel Mickey7, in which an individual named Mickey Barnes becomes an "expendable," meaning he is regenerated each time he dies while performing dangerous tasks.
Production on Mickey 17 began and concluded in 2022, with the movie scheduled for a January 2024 release date. Due to delays caused by the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Mickey 17 was removed from the release calendar and later rescheduled to instead debut in January 2024. Between the director, who also wrote the script, the premise, and the cast, Mickey 17 is eagerly anticipated and is poised to be one of 2025's most exciting movies.
