Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Mighty Valkyries #3
In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' pantheon of new gods in the Marvel Universe, though for what purpose remains unclear. However, Jane Foster herself is somehow involved in her plans, and it seems as though her destiny is now going to be very much tied to these new gods.
In prior issues of The Mighty Valkyries from Jason Aaron, Torunn Grønbekk, Mattia De Iulis, and Erica D'Urso, Jane Foster has found herself trying to protect the recently freed grandchildren of Loki, the moon wolves Hati and Skoll who together call themselves "More." Hela is displeased that More was freed by Karnilla, and as such she's hired Kraven the Hunter to track down the wolves and bring them back to Hel. Meanwhile, the other Valkyrie known as Rūna is in the far reaches of space, saving an Asgardian oracle from his prison among the stars.
Now, The Mighty Valkyries #3 sees Jane Foster battling Kraven the Hunter, but she has no idea what's happening in Hel. Apparently, Karnilla freed More in a deal that allowed her to create life using the Waters of Urdarbrunnr, while also dealing with Loki who offered her a piece of Foster's hair. Now, having everything that she needs, Karnilla intertwines Jane's hair with the Fate threads and those of the powerful young triplets in her care whom she's identified as new gods. Supposedly, her new pantheon is going to need a Valkyrie as their protector, and she's chosen Jane for the job.
Apparently, Jane's new fate has been thrust upon her and it doesn't seem as though she fully knows what it entails just yet by the issue's end, though she'll probably find out soon enough. Furthermore, it's only a matter of time before Rūna and Jane cross paths, providing the opportunity for the two Valkyries to come together to find out what Karnilla's true plans are for these powerful triplets (who keep growing at a rapid pace in the depths of Hel). At the moment, even Loki is guessing at the truth as to what's really going on.
Now, it seems as though the former Mighty Thor has a new role as these particular gods' protector going forward. It certainly seems as though Karnilla is playing a long con against her wife, though hopefully it won't come at the expense of Jane or these new god-children in future issues. Furthermore, Jane Foster's Valkyrie still has to keep More safe from Kraven, so she's definitely going to have a lot on her plate going forward so long as she's not drawn to the children right away now that their fates are intertwined in the Marvel Universe.
