There are already plenty of aspects to Spider-Man, but the new revelations in his last Marvel Comics adventure might be the biggest distinction yet. When Miles takes a trip to Wakanda and gets caught up in the web of the Marvel Universe’s ancient gods, he unlocks a secret connection to a powerful deity that will inform his future.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #29 – written by Cody Ziglar, with art by Daniele Di Nicuolo – finds the hero ing forces with Black Panther as they try to cure his vampire curse by meeting with the Goddess Bast. Though they were successful in turning Spidey back into his old self, they also awakened Miles’ hidden ties to Kwaku Anansi, a Wakanda Trickster God.
With connections to Spider-Totems and the Web of Life and Destiny, it’s somewhat unclear if Anansi considers all spider-related heroes his heralds, including Peter Parker. However, the god takes a special interest in Miles Morales as his new “champion”.

Miles’ latest Webs of Wakanda storyline not only gave his an all-new difference from Peter’s version of Spidey, the young hero manages to garner special attention from the god that’s claimed him as a herald.

When he’s re-introduced in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #28, Kwaku Anansi explains that as a God of storytelling, Miles must his trial by giving him a good story. In the next issue, Miles does just that by stopping the fight with Black Panther to accept his responsibility in classic Spider-Man fashion and deciding that he can deal with the vampiric curse. Because of his bravery, Anansi exorcises the vampirism from Miles. However, with Miles impressing both Bast and Anansi, the Trickster God ominously decides to keep a closer eye on him moving forward.

The Weaver of Stories Will Complicate Spider-Man’s Life More Than Ever
With Kwaku Anansi now watching Spidey as a looming potential threat or ally with godly abilities that transcend the multiverse, Miles Morales’ story has a whole new element of suspense that is unlike anything Peter Parker’s Spider-Man has faced. Labeled both the champion and herald of this powerful deity with vague intentions, Miles could wind up being at the mercy of his very own Galactus-like figure going forward. With Anansi inspired by Miles and promising to spin his new stories in real time, he’s all but guaranteed to come back when least expected to haunt Miles’ future in Marvel Comics.
As Miles Morales unlocks brand-new mythology and officially becomes a champion for a Marvel God, his version of Spider-Man gets yet another fresh lore expansion.
Miles is already set to have a pretty big 2025, and with the Weaver of Stories giving him personal attention from this point on, things could only get more complicated for the hero. With Anansi being able to weave his stories in multiple realities and universes, perhaps he could even have something to do with Spider-Man gets yet another fresh lore expansion that sets him apart from the universe’s other web-slingers.
