Previously announced to release in celebration of Black History Month, Static, and Hardware alongside historical heroes such as Hannibal, Queen of Sheba, Alexande Dumas, and Eugene Bullard.

Last year, Milestone returned to DC Comics with three ongoing titles to reboot the imprint’s most popular superheroes, including Static, Hardware, Icon, and Rocket. While each series approaches a conclusion to their first seasons with their sixth issues, they are being collected in hardcover editions. With the first phase of the Milestone reboot coming to a close, the time is approaching when Dakota’s new heroes will share a . They have already crossed paths with one another, as Virgil Hawkins AKA Static attends the same high school as Raquel Ervin AKA Rocket, and Curtis Metcalf AKA Hardware has also met Virgil. However, the heroes will soon appear in the same issue with the anthology issue.

Originally slated to release on February 15, Milestones in History is being pushed to debut in June. DC Comics had announced for the 96-page issue to be a prime component of the publisher’s celebration for Black History Month. With Milestone’s return after nearly two decades, it would have been the perfect way to commemorate the month. ChrisCross had been announced to illustrate the cover and Doug Braithwaite had been set to create a variant cover. The one-shot was said to feature stories by Reginald Hudlin, Alice Randall, Michael Harriot, Touré, and more writers who have yet to be revealed.

The new release time slot will follow the conclusion of each ongoing series’ first season, including Static which ends on March 1, along with both Icon and Rocket, and Hardware which end in May. As the second seasons have not been officially announced, Milestones in History will serve as a special return to Dakota. At the moment, it’s unclear when the issue is set in the timeline, as the cover features Static in his prototype costume. It had previously been teased that in Static: Season One #6, Virgil will be wearing a suit that is more traditional to his animated incarnation. For that reason, it’s possible that the issue's reschedule for a later release date will not coincide with the in-universe sequence of events.

Although Static, Hardware, and the other Dakota superheroes will primarily be narrating the historical stories of real life black heroes, the issue will still be the first time they come together in a singular issue since Milestone Returns kicked off the imprint’s reboot. While Milestones in History has been delayed, DC is still commemorating Black History Month in part with the release of Milestone Compendium One, collecting several titles from Milestone’s original run in the ‘90s, including Static, Icon, Hardware, Blood Syndicate, and more.
