Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles — the original television show, which was simply known as Million Dollar Listing until 2012 —i s not just known for its impressive sales, but the drama the cast has brought over the years. Controversies appear within almost every reality show; even real estate has its moments. Fredrik, luckily, has yet to seriously entangle in something bigger than himself despite a touch of drama here and there, although some fans aren't too keen of husband Derek Kaplan, who married the star in 2013. With Fredrik's successes in California and New York after working his way up from the bottom, viewers have been on his side for years.
Now after filming for over a decade, Fredrik has decided to move on. Announcing his departure on Instagram, Fredrik confirmed the news to fans: "After an amazing 11 years, I've decided it's time for the next chapter of in my life, and to leave Million Dollar Listing," the 44-year-old wrote. "It's an end of an era and a new start for me." Leaving on good with Bravo, Fredrik made sure to give his thanks to those who helped him on his journey throughout Million Dollar Listing. Recognizing Andy Cohen and the higher-ups of the network, Fredrik continued, "I let Andy, the Producers and the Executives know last week how grateful I am. Eternally grateful, I mean what an incredible run we had together."
Recognizing the good—and bad—parts of starring on television, Fredrik briefly touched upon his wild ride with Million Dollar Listing. "I've always said it's been like elevated therapy to film and then watch my crazy self," the star reflected. With the cameras capturing the beginnings of his relationship with artist Derek Kaplan from the birth of their twins, Fredrik ultimately thanked Bravo for allowing his business to grow. "In 2010...I was an up-and-coming agent with a very small team," Fredrik mused. "The show gave us superpowers and became the engine in building what has become the nation's largest and most prolific team that reached $4.5 billion in 2021."
Neither Fredrik nor Bravo have revealed what the father-of-two has next on the agenda, although it's clear that Fredrik and Derek are dedicated to raising their children. With Mila and Freddy now 4 years old, it's safe to say that priorities have changed for the couple. Million Dollar Listing continues to air Los Angeles and New York seasons despite the pandemic; New York's 9th season premiered last summer with agent Kirsten Jordan ing the cast, while Los Angeles's 11th season aired the summer of 2020. Although Ryan Serhant and Michael Lober are staples, Fredrik Eklund will be missed by fans of not just the program, but Bravo as a whole.
