The first half of delayed Caves & Cliffs Update will go live on June 8, Mojang has revealed. Caves & Cliffs Part II remains a distant prospect for now, targeted for sometime this winter. Testing has been underway for months.
The original, unified version of the update was announced during October's Minecraft Live 2020 event. The decision to cut it in half was announced in April 2021, with the delay and split release attributed not just the update's size, but the difficulty of developing it during the Hogwarts Legacy have been delayed to 2022, and still more game release and update delays are expected to follow.
Monday morning, goats and axolotls can be bred, but only goats produce any items of use in the form of milk.
While Caves & Cliffs Part I is finally on the way, Mojang has yet to announce any next-gen Minecraft upgrades for consoles like the studio is owned by Microsoft. The technology better simulates light, particularly when it comes to reflective surfaces.
Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Part 2 should result in the most dramatic changes to the game yet. It's slated to grow the size of mountains and the depths of caves, while also enhancing how those biomes is automatically generated. This should make exploration on vanilla and semi-vanilla Minecraft servers more dramatic and rewarding - particularly for players who like to build structures on a massive scale. For now, though, Caves & Cliffs Part 1 will have to tide them over through the summer.
Minecraft is available on all platforms.
