How to Find a Trial Chamber in Minecraft

Use The Trial Chamber Explorer Map

The most efficient way to find a Trial Chamber in Minecraft is to use the Trial Chamber Explorer Map, which can be purchased from a Level 3 Journeyman Cartographer, one of the best Villagers in Minecraft. While leveling up the Cartographer may be time-consuming, it will save you time and energy in the long run.

Spending Emeralds and trading will most likely be faster and far more productive than setting out on your own to aimlessly explore the underground in hopes of getting lucky and coming across a Trial Chamber naturally.

The Trial Chamber Explorer Map can be purchased for 14 Emeralds and a Com but discounted with the Hero of the Village status effect, granted by saving a villager from a Pillager Raid. Players can also receive discounts by curing a Zombie Villager in Minecraft, bringing the trade price as low as 11 Emeralds.

For those who don't have access to a Cartographer in any nearby villages, you can craft a Cartography Table with x2 Paper and x4 Planks and place it in front of an unassigned villager. Begin trading with them to level them up until they reach the Journeyman rank.

YouTuber Wattles points out that if you have a Level 3 Journeyman Cartographer who is selling a Woodland Explorer map instead, you will have to start over again, as they cannot sell both kinds of maps in their inventory.

Upon buying and viewing the map, it is straightforward to follow. A clear icon showcases where you are and where the Trial Chamber is. Simply travel towards the icon until you are hovering above it, and dig straight down.

The starting room of a Trial Chamber generates between Y = -40 and -20; however, most of the structure's rooms can generate between Y = -20 and 0. Players will not miss it upon digging directly down from above, and you will immediately notice the unique blocks of the outer structure as you get closer.

Explore Underground Cave Systems

For those who haven't yet got access to a Cartographer or map or who prefer a sense of adventure, you can always organically mine below the surface and explore the enormous caves in Minecraft. Without guidance, these underground structures can be a mystery, but searching for them can be a fun experience as you never know what you may come across along the way.

As mentioned, your best chances are to find them within the Deepslate layers, anywhere between Y levels 0 to -40. These structures are fairly obvious to spot, so you shouldn't miss them even while exploring without a map.

While it adds a spontaneous element to finding the Trial Chamber, you never know how long it will take to locate one, so it generally isn't recommended compared to the other methods. You may end up spending a long time looking for one, or you may end up lucky immediately, but there's never a guarantee.

Use Chunk Base For 1.21 Seeds

Alternatively, seeds in Minecraft, allowing you complete creative control over what you'd like to appear in your ideal Minecraft world. What's great about this option is that it is an external way to find Trial Chambers without using cheats and takes the organic appeal away from Minecraft, especially in survival mode.

After choosing a seed, or if you already have your own Minecraft world, you can type in your seed number in the Seed field bar. Then, select the correct version of Minecraft, which would be 1.21 if you are using the latest update.

Finally, under 'Features,' you can select any attribute you like, from the types of biomes or villages you'd want near spawn to portals and structures, allowing for plenty of customization.

Enable Trial Chambers to find a seed with Trial Chambers in Minecraft around your spawn point, providing you with their coordinates. When you load into your world, you can either teleport to the coordinates or sprint there yourself.

Use The Locate Command

While those playing in survival mode may want to avoid this, there is nothing wrong with using commands as a last resort if they can positively add to your gameplay experience. Sometimes, spending hours looking for a particular structure can take the appeal out of Minecraft when you could otherwise focus on the important things that make Minecraft exciting.

The locate command allows you to type in the structure of your choice and provides you with the coordinates. This allows you to instantly teleport to the structure, saving you lots of time and energy.

The only way to find a Trial Chamber with commands in Minecraft is to enable cheats, which require a set of instructions that differ depending on which version of Minecraft you are playing.

Allow Cheats Directions

Java

Esc > Open to LAN > Allow Cheats: ON > Start LAN World

Bedrock

Esc > Settings > Game Options > Activate Cheats

When you have enabled these cheats on either Java or Bedrock, exit the main menu and press 'T' to open the chat box. Here, you can now type in the following command: /locate structure minecraft:trial_chambers.

Doing so will see the coordinates in bright green, showcasing the nearest Trial Chamber to your current location. Finally, type /tp in the chat box to activate teleportation, and then click on the coordinates and press 'ENTER' to conveniently whizz away straight to the Trial Chamber.

When you arrive at the new location, you may have to search a little, as the Y coordinates may not always be accurate. Be mindful that using Minecraft will disable your achievements.
