The characters are well developed and, in a little bit over two hours, the fans are thrilled by the end result. Every role is different from the next and this is what makes the movie interesting. From their powers to the tragic life they all lead, it is all worth seeing. However, if fans had to choose which character was their all-time favorite, who would they pick?

Mr. Barron

Samuel L. Jackson Mr. Barron

The character of Mr. Barron was Samuel L. Jackson. And although he is an extremely talented actor (Pulp Fiction, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Star Wars) his character is the main antagonist of the story and spends most of the movie trying to hunt down the peculiar children for his own ambitions. It's not exactly hard to see why many people detest his character since he seems to have no ethical or moral boundaries.

Dr. Golan

Allison Janney Dr. Golan

Dr. Golan (portrayed by the Academy Award winning Allison Janney) is a psychiatrist who has been possessed by Mr. Barron and also the one who encourages Jake Portman to find the island where the loop happens. A character such as Dr. Golan can't be exactly hated since it is not directly their fault and for what it has been said and done the viewers are not expected to form any kind of specific relationship. It's a character that is easily forgotten as soon as the movie comes to an end.

Frank Portman

Chris O'Dowd Frank Portman

Frank Portman (Chris O'Dowd) is Jack's father and the person who helps his son to discover the true story behind the children’s home. He is an ordinary father figure who wishes the best for his child and would do anything to see Jack happy.

Characters like Frank Portman usually have small roles and the audience doesn't pay much attention to them since the main characters overshadowed them. Their purpose is to assist where needed and that is about it.

Enoch O'Connor

Enoch O'Connor

Enoch O'Connor (Finlay MacMillan) is one of the gifted children who has the ability to inanimate objects to life by "simply" performing a minor surgery while placing a heart of an animal in their chest. However, this is only for a short amount of time.

While he was rather strange and rude in the beginning, Enoch revealed there was a more caring and brave side to his personality as the story progressed. It just goes to show that maybe one should never judge a book by its cover.

Olive Abroholos Elephanta

Olive Abroholos Elephanta (Lauren McCrostie) is also one of the gifted teenage peculiars who lived under the care of Miss Peregrine. Despite having to go through life wearing black rubber gloves to protect those from her pyrokinesis, Olive does not let this get her down. In fact, she is seen to be quite sweet and kind. Her bravery is also something that the audience s for as she will do whatever she can to protect her family.

Miss Avocet

Judi Dench Miss Avocet

Miss Avocet (played by notorious James Bond actor Judi Dench) is a very special character in the movie. She is strong and willing to sacrifice her life to save the children. Her story is tragic since her students were slaughtered by the Hollowgasts as she was desperately fighting to save them.

When the character has lived through a great tragedy and the story is shown to the audience, it is most likely that they will feel immediate respect and empathy towards the character. Also, Judi Dench is a legend that many people are in awe of just by her appearing on the screen.

Abe Portman

Abraham Ezra Portman, better known as Abe (Terence Stamp), is the grandfather of Jake, who introduces him to the new world on the island. For the audience, Abe is a very important character since through him they are able to understand the entire story of how the home for peculiar children functions and its history.

Fans believe his death at the hands of the Hollowgast is heartbreaking and cruel as it is a moment where the good guys lose one of their most valuable assets.

Alma LeFay Peregrine

Miss Peregrine

Alma LeFay Peregrine (portrayed by the iconic Eva Green) is the heistress of the school for peculiar children, which is also considered their safe haven. She is sharp, smart, beautiful, and very capable, which makes her the perfect main character. She is respected by her students and loved by the fans and audience.

Her dedication to protecting the children at all costs is irable for everyone yet tragic for her. Her ability to manipulate time is the only reason why the children and the school survive for so long.

Jacob "Jake" Magellan Portman

Jacob "Jake" Magellan Portman (played by actor-turned-gamer Asa Butterfield) is one of the main characters in the movie so he is by default among the favorites from the start.

Although he is shy and withdrawn, the journey to the island and his adventure reveal a true hero. He is very scrappy and uses every bit of information to save himself and the rest of the children. He fully devotes himself to every goal so he is successful in the outcome, which is a cause for a great deal of respect.

Emma Bloom (Ella Purnell) is one of the other heroic Peculiar children. When audiences first meet her, it is revealed that her powers are all aerokinetic. She is shown to be extremely trusting and loyal, putting her life on the line on several occasions to protect her friends.

Since she was also seen to be Jacob's love interest, the audience gets to learn a lot about her character more in comparison to all the others. So it's not really hard to see why fans like her more.
