An The Sandlot. The Sandlot scene, aside from one or two moments, is a near-perfect shot for shot recreation in Sony's MLB The Show 21. It's a pretty great way to pay tribute to one of the most beloved baseball films using a combination of custom players and the game's stadium creator.
MLB The Show 21's stadium creator has been used in a lot of incredibly creative ways, such as building whacky custom stadiums with things like dinosaurs, alien spaceships, and more. Players have also created incredibly detailed recreations of old-school, classic baseball parks, giving unique glimpses at a bygone era of America's favorite pastime. YouTuber players in MLB The Show 21, it's fun to see them looking so authentic thanks to the game's incredibly realistic graphics.
It seems like only a matter of time before someone tries to recreate all of the baseball scenes from the film or make an effort to create other iconic baseball scenes from movies like Field of Dreams and more. Regardless, it's a near-perfect homage despite the lack of lip-syncing and very specific moments that simply can't be replicated in-game due to the limits of MLB The Show 21's animations. Whether or not it can match the quality of MLB The Show 21 remains to be seen, especially after EA failed to rival NBA 2K with its own basketball franchise.
MLB The Show 21 is available now on the Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
