Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX dropped its biggest episode yet with episode #7, and it will lead to an even better follow-up with episode #8 and beyond. Everything about the show is set to change in a way no one could have imagined, and because of that, the series has never been more exciting.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX episode #7 picked up where episode #6 left off, with Machu’s struggles becoming intertwined with GQuuuuuuX’s version of the Titans’ planned assassination of Kycilia Zabi. Machu and Nyaan tried to use the conflict with the Cyber Newtypes to finally run away to Earth with Shuji, but predictably, things quickly turned bad for everyone involved. Every dramatic point in the series came to a head with episode #7, and there’s no telling how things will progress from here.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Episode 6 Review: Change In The Best Of Ways

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Episode 6 In Review

Nyaan in episode 6

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX episode #6 marks the halfway point of the series, and it was an appropriately big episode. Between Annqi’s betrayal, the reveal of GQuuuuuuX’s version of the Titans, and the setup of incoming political drama with Kycilia’s assassination, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX episode #6 lays the groundwork for an appropriately dramatic turn for the series. This is the clear turning point of the series, and how it plays out will determine how everything plays out for the rest of the anime.

Much of that success will come from how well it balances the incoming war drama with the ongoing teen drama. Most of GQuuuuuuX’s story has revolved around Machu’s teen angst, and with how great the drama and character work of that has been, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will only be truly successful if it can balance its character writing with its incoming war drama. With how great the writing has been so far, there’s little reason to doubt that Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will succeed with that, and thankfully, episode #7 more than delivered on that front.

What Happened In Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Episode 7?

Produced By Studio Khara And Sunrise; Directed By Shinnosuke Ito

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX episode #7, “Machu’s Rebellion”, picked up with Machu’s confrontation with Nyaan, where she told her about how Annqi had sold them and Shuji out. Machu told Nyaan to pilot the GQuuuuuuX and lead Shuji to a rendezvous point while she got the rest of the money for their trip to Earth, with Nyaan agreeing after a brief discussion of their respective crushes on Shuji. To get the money, Machu broke into Annqi’s safe to rob her, and the two went their separate ways after Machu tearfully fired a gun at her.

Meanwhile, the Clan Battle against the Cyber Newtypes took place in the city as opposed to space, and the Cyber Newtypes, Gates and Deux, quickly abandoned any pretense of fighting in the Clan Battle to cause havoc on their way to assassinate Kycilia. Amidst all the chaos, Nyaan, in a panic, asked Shuji to forget about Machu so they could run away together. At that moment, though, Shuji’s Newtype abilities surged and created another Zeknova Incident, and when it faded, Shuji, just like Char in the One Year War, disappeared alongside the Gundam.

With the power of Deux’s Psycho Gundam, she and Gates made their way to Kycilia unimpeded, and it seemed as if they would get away with killing her. Fortunately, Challia, now confirmed to not be working with the Federation, arrived in his Kikeroga to save Kycilia, and sure enough, Challia defeated Gates and Deux single-handedly without so much as breaking a sweat. The threat of Kycilia’s assassination was over, and the only thing left for Challia to do was apprehend the GQuuuuuuX.

Machu finally arrived on the scene to find Shuji and the Red Gundam missing and the GQuuuuuuX by itself with Nyaan nowhere in sight. The police arrived to take the GQuuuuuuX, and Machu ignored their warnings and took off in the GQuuuuuuX. Machu became progressively unhinged as the reality of the situation settled in, with her and the GQuuuuuuX’s eyes taking on a mysterious glow in the process, but before anything could happen, Challia beat Machu down in a surprise attack and apprehended both her and the GQuuuuuuX.

At the end of everything, Machu was arrested and branded a terrorist, and Nyaan, whom Xavier mistook for the true pilot of the Gundam GQuuuuuuX, was invited to live on Zeon, and Nyaan, with no other options, was forced to accept. Everything slowly calmed down, but Challia realized that things would only get worse for everyone if Kycilia and her brother, Gihren, kept doing whatever they wanted, and on that note, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX episode #7 ended with Challia planning to kill Kycilia and Gihren to maintain peace.

Naturally, episode #7 was just as big a success narratively.
