Conrad and Maeve’s oldest son, Brendan Harrigan, who met a gruesome end as retaliation for the murders of Tommy and Vron Stevenson.

Jaime and Richie set up a live feed of the executions so that the Harrigan family could watch from the Cotswolds, which they did helplessly. Tom Hardy’s Harry Da Souza was the last hope for Brendan and Seraphina, and despite not making it to Jaime’s warehouse in time, he was able to come through and (sort of) save the day as usual. The Harrigans’ talented and well-connected fixer made one phone call, which was enough to convince a cartel boss to break off his arrangement with Richie on the spot.

MobLand Episode 7 Introduces Janet McTeer's Character, Kat McAllister

The Mysterious Character Is Seemingly Both Rich And Powerful

Janet McTeer as Kat McAllister in MobLand

Harry first calls Donnie, the mysterious figure who has twice approached Zosia’s garage looking for Harry. It’s Donnie who connects Harry with Kat, and it seems likely that it was Kat who had been sending Donnie to find Harry in earlier episodes. While she’s only on-screen for a few moments, Kat, listed as Kat McAllister, is shown in a private jet, doing some sort of work with financial documents.

While little else is revealed, she makes a call to Jaime (who notably uses her first name), and her word is enough to make Jaime cut off the video feed and stop Seraphina’s execution. It’s very clear that Kat is some sort of internationally-recognized figure of immense power, as it’s no small feat to have a cartel boss do your bidding. She is wealthy, but money can typically only go so far; it seems likely that Kat is some sort of important figure, perhaps a politician or extremely-high-ranking member of an international crime organization.

Janet McTeer earned Academy Award nominations in 2000 for her leading role in Tumbleweeds, and again in 2012 for her ing role in Albert Nobbs.

Kat is played by Janet McTeer, the widely-celebrated English actress who has been a mainstay of screen and stage for decades. The 63-year-old has received both a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award for her work on the stage, and two Academy Award nominations and a Primetime Emmy nomination for her roles on both the large and small screen. She most recently appeared in Ozark, the Divergent series of movies, along with the black comedy horror movie The Menu. Along with Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy, she is the third Academy Award nominee to appear in MobLand.

Why Kat Helps Harry Save Seraphina In MobLand Episode 7

She Doesn’t Do It Out Of The Goodness Of Her Heart

Kat and Harry clearly have an as-yet-unknown history from well before the events of MobLand, which explains why Harry was able to call in a favor at all. However, he seems unsure about whether to call in such a nuclear option, and it quickly becomes clear why. Kat makes sure to note that Harry now owes her a favor, and it seems like she’ll want to cash in on something that will get Harry in trouble. Kat is clearly a dangerous person, and saved Seraphina in order to get Harry in her clutches for use at a future date.
