Warning: SPOILERS ahead for MobLand season 1, episode 10!MobLand season 1 ended with a multitude of major events happening for its ensemble cast, with one being a cliffhanger for Harry's fate. While speaking to his wife, Jan (Joanne Froggatt), the pair end up having an argument while she's cutting vegetables. In a fit of rage, she accidentally stabs him in the chest, leaving his ultimate fate unclear as he starts to bleed.
Speaking with the New York Post, Butterworth revealed that, despite getting stabbed in the chest, Harry will survive his MobLand season 1 injury. The executive producer explained the importance of Hardy's role and how much the series' overarching stories hinge on his involvement. He also explained why the decision to have Jan stab him was made, tossing in a life-threatening injury after surviving so much worse throughout the season. Check out what Butterworth had to say below:
I mean, if you think about it, ‘is Harry dead?' No. We’re not gonna – We love Harry. We love Tom.
It felt satisfyingly dramatic that having walked through fire for 10 episodes, what happens at the end is the one thing he’s not expecting.
What Butterworth's Confirmation Means For Harry's Fate In MobLand
He'll Survive Into The Show's Next Chapter
Harry living through Jan stabbing him makes sense, given how much he's managed to survive in the show already, Multiple characters in MobLand have put him in threatening positions since the start of the series, all having to do with the criminal business he's involved in. For him to die from getting stabbed by his own wife would be a shocking turn of events, but it's clear based on Butterworth's statement that the plan is to have Hardy around for quite some time as the series' central protagonist.

MobLand Season 1, Episode 10 Review: I'm Even More Bored & Frustrated By This Series Now That I Know How It Ends
MobLand episode 10, "The Beast in Me", is the finale of a meandering and too often boring series that hasn't progressed the plot since the premiere.
The season finale has already laid the foundation for what MobLand season 2 could be about. Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) receives a standing ovation in prison after seemingly getting away with his crimes, while Kat (Janet McTeer) tries getting Harry to her in taking down the Harrigan family for good. These are just some ways season 2 will be continuing the overarching story, with the protagonist's chest injury being just one of many important developments setting the stage for what's to come.
MobLand has not been renewed for season 2 as of writing.
Our Take On Harry's Fate In MobLand
A Relief To Know His Story Isn't Over
While his status as the main character made it likely he would survive, Butterworth's confirmation that Harry will pull through is a relief ahead of a possible season 2. It means there are plans in place for Hardy's character to continue being part of the series' future, even if the confirmation spoils that he's going to be alright. With his place in the show's future confirmed, it seems like a core part of MobLand season 2 will be dealing with the aftermath of his injury, and what it means for his relationship with Jan.
