Infused with the power of Qurio, Risen Chameleos is a new Elder Dragon in Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
Monster Hunter Rise fans can attempt the Risen Chameleos Hunt in Sunbreak by speaking with Bahari after reaching Master Rank 110. These two actions will unlock the Hub Quest "Risen Chameleos" to Chichae's list of 6-Star Quests. As mentioned above, Consumables that cure Poison or wearing Armor that offers Poison Resistance will significantly benefit participants of this fight. Risen Chameleos will inflict Hunters with Noxious Poison to no end, and leaving this ailment unchecked even for a few seconds will end in a cart trip back to camp.
Similar to how Malzeno or Violet Mizutsune has a "transformed" state in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Risen Chameleos possesses a phase during which it becomes "Risen," unleashing deadly attacks that potentially one-shot Hunters if they are not careful. As its head is the weakest point on its body, Game8 advises players to continuously attack its skull after it enters this stage to stun it, causing the monster to revert to its normal combat form.
Beating Risen Chameleos In Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak
Weapons that can inflict Fireblight or deal Blast damage are most effective against Risen Chameleos in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Bear in mind that, as an Elder Dragon, this monster is immune to paralysis and being trapped. Furthermore, it cannot be captured, meaning Hunters will need to slay it to complete the Hunt. Like its standard version, Risen Chameleos will frequently turn invisible to conceal its movements or next attack. To bring it out of this hidden state, GINX Esports TV suggests players throw out a Flash Bomb, which will force the Elder Dragon to reveal itself. Removing the horn on its head will also prevent the monster from turning invisible.
One key strategy to keep in mind when fighting Risen Chameleos in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is that the range of its attacks must be respected. Players who rush away thinking they are safe will be disgruntled to find out how far the Elder Dragon's noxious projectiles can reach. An optimal position to attack this monster from would be its right or left side. Like Chameleos, Risen Chameleos has a wide variety of close-range, AoE, and one-directional attacks. Most of these cover areas are in front, behind, and directly around the monster. However, it is unable to retaliate with a side body slam like more agile monsters, making its side position an optimal point from which to attack it.
