Capcom has announced three new Amiibo to coincide with the release of unveiled recently during a Nintendo Direct showcase. The game is bringing a host of new updates to the tried-and-true Monster Hunter formula, including a new dog companion called a Palamute that hunters can ride around on during hunts. It also introduces a grappling hook item called the Wirebug to open up new traversal options. The game releases on March 26th, 2021.

Monster Hunter Rise has a lot to live up to. The previous game in the series, the bestselling Capcom game of all time.

Monster Hunter Rise might have a tall task ahead of it if it wants to top that, but so far, it's establishing itself just fine. Not long after the initial reveal of the game and its counterpart Monster Hunter Stories 2, the game's new flagship monster, Magnamalo. Capcom says each Amiibo will unlock special armor in the game and grant players access to a daily lottery for further prizes.

Capcom isn't forthcoming on too many details about these Amiibo. It hasn't even revealed what they look like yet. According to a banner shown during the Direct video, these new figures will be GameStop exclusives, except for Magnamalo, which will be packaged into the collector's edition of the game along with some stickers and an enamel pin. The price tag for this collector's edition is still unknown. That makes getting all three of the new Amiibo a pricey proposition, but for truly devoted Monster Hunter fans, it could be well worth it.

There certainly seems to be a lot to look forward to in the new Monster Hunter game, and a firm release date means fans won't have to spend a lot of time speculating. These Amiibo are just icing on the cake. Nintendo has long had a habit of announcing new Amiibo to coincide with a game, but Amiibo for a third-party developer like Capcom are more of a rarity. Hopefully, these creatures will fight just as well on the shelf as they do in Monster Hunter Rise.
