Fans of Monster Hunter Wilds are getting a bit upset with the hand-holding that seems to happen throughout the entire game. Monster Hunter Wilds has been out for a few days now, and though it has gained massive traction, it has also been a rough road for the developers already. With bugs, crashes, and issues hindering story progression, fans are already upset with the state of the game.

A Reddit post from lose complete control over your character, meaning you can't jump, attack, or move.

While this might be helpful for new players or at the beginning of the game as players get a grasp on things, it seems that this happens throughout the title --- not just during tutorials.

Players Seem Divided On The Loss Of Control & Cutscenes

The Reddit thread garnered a bit of attention, with some commenters mentioning that you can break away from the story and do your own thing. Others agree that it can become a bit of a bother constantly having to finish walking and talking before being allowed to progress. Sethazora writes,

There are several instances where you cant just go back and do something else until you finish walking and talking. And 2 where you cant access some services until you do the next quest. Alongside skipping cutscenes not skipping much of the process.

While new players may find this hand-holding to be helpful, others wish there was a way to streamline the process for veteran players. Auto running to the next objective takes the fun out of the game, according to the original poster. Other Reddit threads have been popping up about this topic as well, with some getting extremely upset with these cutscenes. Reddit Thinkblu3 had some colorful language regarding this issue, with others chiming in on how angering it is to just be guided through the scenery without the ability to stop.

Our Take: Monster Hunter Wilds Is Filled With Lore & Cutscenes

But Being Able To Skip Certain Things Would Be Nice

While I have not put a lot of time into Monster Hunter Wilds yet, I have played quite a bit, and I do enjoy some of the cutscenes. The issue is that some of the cutscenes just run you through an area at lightning speed with zero control to stop and take a look around or collect resources. I enjoy the lore, the characters, and the story, but I can agree that I wish certain scenes were not as "overbearing" as they are.

Monster Hunter Wilds is a lushly beautiful and ceaselessly thrilling entry in the series, but its performance and on-rails story can be distracting.

Tutorials and automatic cutscenes are great here and there, but there are quite a few in Wilds that can pull players out of the immersive and vast world around them. Overall, the game is extremely fun to play, the Steam numbers are still sky-high, and the Monster Hunter Wilds devs are getting hotfixes out for known issues.
