One of the first larger monsters you encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds is the Doshaguma and its Alpha leader, a territorial beast whose aggression makes it hard to beat. This fanged, lumbering creature of the Windward Plains is larger and meaner than most wildlife you'll see throughout your travels. The Alpha Doshaguma stands out among its brethren, shaking the very earth as you try to hunt it.
Alpha Doshaguma was a monster previously available to hunt during both Open Betas for Monster Hunter Wilds. While this creature remains largely unchanged from those early editions of the game, there is more content to interact with to make fighting the strongest Doshaguma somewhat easier. For new and veteran players, engaging with never-before-seen parts of the environment will always give you an advantage during a hunt.

Where To Find Alpha Doshaguma
Disperse The Pack To Single Out Its Leader
Alpha Doshaguma can always be found in the Windward Plains, usually traveling with a pack of 2–4 . Other Doshaguma are just as aggressive as their leader, making it difficult to fight the Alpha 1v1 until the pack clears out. There are multiple ways to get rid of the pack, including:
- Blocking their path from the Alpha
- Using a Large Dung Pod to make them flee
- Slaying each Doshaguma individually
The Large Dung Pod is the most common way to get rid of unwanted Doshaguma, and the easiest if you have multiple players able to build the item needed. The rancid scent from a Large Dung Pod will disperse everything but the Alpha Doshaguma, singling it out for an easier hunt.
During the later stages of the game, you may need to farm Doshaguma for multiple parts, making it worth the effort to hunt down every single member of a Doshaguma pack. Don't try to do this until you have a high-tier weapon that can tear through a Doshaguma's health faster.
Alternatively, you can manipulate the environment to isolate the Alpha Doshaguma. Monster Hunter Wilds has a returning World mechanic that lets you drop rocks, activate Shock Toads, or lead monsters through dangerous areas to make them easier to fight. For the Alpha Doshaguma, you may want to alter the environment in a way that separates it from its pack to hunt it while it's alone.
How To Defeat Alpha Doshaguma
Create Weak Points And Aim To Stagger The Beast
The best way to hunt an Alpha Doshaguma is to avoid the front of the creature whenever you can, as almost all its attacks come from that area. Alpha Doshaguma will attack using their fangs and front legs, either biting or stomping the ground in front of it. Those who can stay behind or on the side of this creature will have more chances to deal damage and avoid most of the monster's attacks.
Doing Special Research on the Alpha Doshaguma will reveal which parts of its body are the easiest to wound. Additional research on the monster will also reveal how weak or resistant it is to various elemental damage types.
You should go into Focus Mode often to create wounds on Alpha Doshaguma, especially as you focus on attacking its legs. Mounting this creature to create wounds on its back will also help break through its defenses, giving you more areas to strike effectively. The more you attack wounded areas, the more chances you may have to stagger Alpha Doshaguma, leaving it vulnerable to your strongest techniques.

Does Monster Hunter Wilds Have Crossplay?
Monster Hunter Wilds is a new entry in the franchise and, considering the series has never had crossplay, doubts about it having the feature arose.
The strongest attack Alpha Doshaguma has is a move that shatters the earth, causing a mini-earthquake in a shockwave in front of it. This move occurs after the Alpha Doshaguma stands upright on its hind legs for a short time, so try to recognize patterns to avoid taking damage from the monster's strongest attacks.
The Alpha Doshaguma will try to do wide sweeping attacks, bites, slams, and slashes with its claws to try and knock you away. Don't take too many hits, or you will get stunned and become vulnerable to the monster's next strike. Roll, block, and dodge Alpha Doshaguma's attacks in any way you can, then apply pressure by dealing damage with your weapon's unique combos to bring it down.
Rewards From Beating Alpha Doshaguma
Gain Unique Parts For Weapons And Armor
Like any monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, you gain unique monster parts for defeating Alpha Doshaguma. These parts will help you build new armor and weapons associated with the monster, giving you new skills and builds to experiment with. Defeating stronger versions of Alpha Doshaguma will earn you better parts later in the game, but here are the many items you could get from beating it the first time:
Breaking monster parts will always give you more rewards for defeating it. For Alpha Doshaguma, you can farm Doshaguma Fur by using wounds to break the monster's parts.
The Beast Gem is a very rare drop for taking down an Alpha Doshaguma, so you may have to farm this hunt multiple times to get it. Thankfully, using the right strategies to beat an Alpha Doshaguma the first time will make it easier to do it again in Monster Hunter Wilds as you get more parts to build new gear.
