new monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds have been introduced to the series, which also means new weapons and armor pieces to craft.
Even though there is a lot of content to go through both during the campaign and after concluding the main story arc and rolling the credits, more advanced players – notably those who have not only powered through the campaign but have also reached high Hunter Ranks – may already be feeling an absence of more hunts to partake in. There are several monsters to hunt, Events, and Optional Quests to complete, but once these are done, players will likely see themselves repeating hunts. This is why Monster Hunter Wilds desperately needs new monster updates to keep the game fresh.
Monster Hunter Wilds Needs A Monster Update With Magnamalo
The Cover Monster For Rise Could Improve Difficulty Levels
One of the most notable aspects is that the game lacks more challenging hunts, at least for me. There are several tougher enemies to face once you reach high Hunter Ranks, including Arkveld and Gore Magala, but these challenging monsters pale in comparison to the number of considerably easy monsters. Combined with the lack of new content and, for some players, the lack of difficulty, the game needs tougher monsters, not only to keep the game fresh but to offer a better learning curve when facing true menaces at the same level as Gore Magala in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds' Endgame Isn't Hard, But That's Given Me A New Purpose
Monster Hunter Wilds' High Rank outfit system has changed the endgame, helping give players purpose despite the lack of difficulty.
The immediate thought for tough monster challenges in the series usually lies with Elder Dragons, which represent a legendary category of creatures. These are some of the sturdiest and most heavy-hitting opponents across the franchise, and their abundant presence in Monster Hunter World (2018) and Monster Hunter Rise (2021) is proof of that. Even with the obvious solution on the table, the game doesn’t have to look at these particular monsters if they want a spike in difficulty. Magnamalo from Monster Hunter Rise could represent a big challenge in Wilds if it were added and adapted into the new title.
Magnamalo Is One Of The Best Monsters In The Series
Its Aggressive Moveset & Hellfireblight Could Be Great For Monster Hunter Wilds
Magnamalo is my favorite monster from the Capcom series, and my desire to see it in Wilds is not merely based on preference but on the reason why it is my favorite. Magnamalo is arguably one of the most aggressive creatures in Rise, even if it seems a bit slower than creatures like Odogaron and Nargacuga. This monster has a powerful moveset that sees it attack in all directions at incredible speed. Magnamalo is great at both melee and ranged distances, which would make it a tough fight regardless of your weapon choice in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds' Best Character Isn't Who I Expected
Monster Hunter Wilds makes more of an effort to characterize its cast, but the best character isn't who most people would probably expect.
Aside from how adaptable Magnamalo is to its environment in the sense that it could hit nearby hunters with different moves, this is also a heavy-hitting beast. Its attacks are extremely powerful and deal massive loads of damage to hunters, so every attack, as simple as it may seem, should be dodged when possible. A perfect representation of how strong it is, Magnamalo has a remarkable move that sees it dash across the arena and then leap at a target hunter’s location at incredible speed. This attack feels like a meteor in Monster Hunter Rise.
In its Hellfire state, this dashing movement also leaves behind Hellfire explosions in Magnamalo’s path.
In addition to its sheer power, Magnamalo also has a trick up its sleeve: Hellfireblight. Available in Rise and currently unavailable in Wilds, Hellfireblight is a dangerous status condition that can cause an explosion if the affected player is knocked back or after some time, potentially causing them to faint if they leave it unattended. This condition can be applied through several of Magnamalo’s attacks but, most importantly, it can be dropped and used in your favor. You can cause monsters to attack dropped Hellfireblight to sustain damage, and that would be a great returning mechanic in Monster Hunter Wilds.
One of the ways of clearing Hellfireblight in Rise is through a Wiredash and, because Wirebugs are not available in Wilds, Capcom would have to look at another means of cleansing the effect. Even so, the gameplay possibilities with Hellfireblight in The Forbidden Lands would be superb, especially with all the new gameplay mechanics and weapon combos. In addition to the gameplay value that Magnamalo brings on its own within hunts, the creature would also, inevitably, bring forth new weapons and new armor sets in Monster Hunter Wilds, possibly deepening the usage of the Hellfireblight mechanic.
Scorned Magnamalo Could Enhance Monster Hunter Wilds' Difficulty Level
This Is An Even Tougher Version Of The Monster
Looking even further into possibilities, a Scorned version of Magnamalo could embody the spike in difficulty that Wilds needs. The regular version of Magnamalo is undeniably tough and can be a great addition to the game alone, but an enhanced version like Scorned Magnamalo would be even better at this point, especially for players who are struggling with repetitive endgame content. Scorned Magnamalo is a tougher and more aggressive version of the Fanged Wyvern, and its addition would be a smart way of inaugurating a new era of monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, eventually leading up to the Elder Dragons.

Playing Monster Hunter Wilds In Multiplayer Ruins My Favorite Innovation
Monster Hunter Wilds has innovated on a core component of the franchise, but is unsurprisingly held back due to a needlessly convoluted MP system.
Surely, Magnamalo and Scorned Magnamalo – and perhaps a Tempered Magnamalo – don’t reach the potential of most Elder Dragons, who are the toughest of the tough in the series. However, among the list of regular monsters, this Fanged Wyvern is easily one of the best. If were ever added to the game via a monster update, it would elevate Wilds’ status and temporarily address one of the debatable issues regarding difficulty. For now, Capcom has announced a Mizutsune update this Spring and an undisclosed monster update this Summer. Hopefully, Magnamalo is among the plans for Monster Hunter Wilds’ future.
