Monster Hunter Wilds has just launched today to a varied reception from fans, with over 10k reviews putting the game at a mixed review rating on Steam. As the latest installment in this award-winning series, this new entry follows the new story of a young boy named Nata found at the border of the Forbidden Lands, leaving the Guild to finally enter this previously unseen zone. With tales of a monster that attacked his village, curiosity is high as to what players might discover on their daring adventures into these new lands.

Despite expectations being high for the newly released Monster Hunter Wilds, players on Steam have been leaving mixed on their experiences. While the game itself seems to be incredibly immersive and a splendid new entry into the series, performance issues have been absolutely ruining the experience for many. With that the game stutters, crashes, and, for many, is unplayable, it's unfortunate that what could've been a brilliant launch is tinged with disappointment.

Luckily, Capcom has heard the fans' pleas and released a troubleshooting guide to help those experiencing issues on PC.

Monster Hunter Wilds Has A Huge Number Of Players, But A Few Major Complaints

Does Monster Hunter Wilds Have Crossplay?

Monster Hunter Wilds is a new entry in the franchise and, considering the series has never had crossplay, doubts about it having the feature arose.

It's evident that the title itself isn't the issue, with Koda reviewing that "This game is absolutely amazing - but has the worst optimization I've ever seen." Others have continued this sentiment too, with Jolsn adding that "This game is everything wrong with PC optimization in 2025." As the game right now crashes substantially, stutters, uses poor textures and assets, and the fact that it's nearly unplayable for some s, it feels like, for many, it launched too soon.

With large-scale issues like crashing and stuttering, the nearing unplayable nature of it for a lot of s means that it would be very difficult to ignore. ScreenRant's review even embodied similar issues, but there is a light at the end of this dimmed launch. Capcom released a guide to help those struggling with errors, and while it might not be the quickest fix, it could possibly salvage the title for some.

This isn't the only critique the game has found either, with others disappointed at the lack of a true story. While none of the previous games have had much of a large or memorable storyline, players are slowly coming to wish that there was more on offer. With so many of these prevalent issues, Capcom will have some work to do in bringing back positive acclaim for Monster Hunter Wilds, but at least PC players can attempt to resolve the stutters, crashes, and more on their own.
