Monster Hunter Wilds, the much-anticipated next entry in the critically acclaimed franchise, is almost here. However, for those who simply cannot wait to get their hands on it when it launches on February 28, 2025, or those who want to try before they buy, Monster Hunter Wilds is getting yet another open beta that anyone can participate in. This follows the previous open beta, which was held in November 2024.

Capcom announced the new Monster Hunter Wilds open beta a short while ago to give players time to prepare and preload it. Fortunately, it's coming sooner than some may expect, and there's plenty of new content in it for fans to get stuck into. However, those who are interested won't have long to try it out, so it's important to start playing as soon as possible.

When Open Beta 2 For Monster Hunter Wilds Begins

It Starts On February 6

Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2 starts on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 7pm PT/10pm ET. An infographic showcasing all the open beta's start times was revealed via the game's sixth Monster Hunter Wilds' new monsters. This is 22 days before the game officially launches, meaning that what players will experience will largely be the same as what they'll get on launch day, aside from a potential day-one patch to iron out any immediate bugs.

This open beta, unlike the previous one, is available on all platforms - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC - at once. Additionally, crossplay between all three platforms will be enabled from the start, meaning that everyone can play together. Players will be able to preload Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2 from Thursday, February 6, just before the open beta goes live for everyone across all regions. It can be accessed through each platform's respective digital storefront by simply searching for Monster Hunter Wilds.

How Long MH Wilds' Open Beta 2 Will Last

It Lasts Four Days Each Time

Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2 is running across two weekends, with the second of the two weekends ending on Sunday, February 16, at 6:59pm PT/9:59pm ET. This means that the final open beta will end approximately 12 days before Monster Hunter Wilds' official launch date, ensuring that fans won't have to wait too long. All of the details about Monster Hunter Wilds open beta's start and end times can be found below:

Importantly, this open beta test will allow players to see if Monster Hunter Wilds' poor performance has been improved upon since the last beta. Players struggled with low framerates back in November, although were quick to dismiss it considering just how long there was until launch day. Now that the game is just a few weeks out, fans can only hope that performance is up to the standard they've come to expect from a Monster Hunter title.

What To Expect From The Open Beta This Time Around

There's Quite A Lot Of New Content

The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2 will feature all the content from the previous open beta, including the character creation - which carries over to the full game - the Story Trial, which features the game's opening cutscene as well as a tutorial hunt against the Chatacabra, and then the Doshaguma Hunt. Additionally, the second open beta will feature a wealth of new content, including two additional hunts, private lobbies, a training area for players to test their skills and try out Monster Hunter Wilds' improved combat, and online single-player. Here is everything new coming in the second open beta:

  • Arkveld and Gypceros Hunts (these are made available after beating the Doshaguma Hunt.)
  • Private Lobbies for up to 16 players.
  • A Training Area for solo players.
  • Online single-player mode that allows solo players to explore the open world alone.

For participating in the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2, players will be able to unlock the Open Beta Test Pendant and OBT2 Bonus Item Pack in the full game, if they choose to buy it. These rewards and whatever character players create are the only content that carries over to the full release. Any other progress will be deleted once the open beta ends. Unsurprisingly, Capcom has given new players a lot to get stuck into in the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2, and plenty of reasons for fans to return.
