With so many new characters, I can't wait to see what fights are included in ending of 2021's Mortal Kombat set up many exciting possibilities for the sequel.

Since Shang Tsung and his Outworld warriors failed to defeat Earthrealm's fighters in the first film, the two realms will clash once again in the Mortal Kombat 2. This time around, Shao Kahn, the menacing Emperor of Outworld, will be the film's primary villain. In the movie, Shao Kahn will oversee a Mortal Kombat tournament, which will see many fan-favorite characters fight each other. Therefore, here are the six fights I want to see the most in Mortal Kombat 2:

6 Liu Kang Vs. Shang Tsung

Shang Tsung Is The Final Boss In A Lot Of Mortal Kombat Games

Even though both Liu Kang and Shang Tsung were featured in the first film, they unfortunately did not fight each other. This is surprising, since they are major rivals in the Mortal Kombat video games. It's even more surprising that the 2021 film largely sidelined Liu Kang and instead focused on Cole Young. However, since Shang Tsung killed Kung Lao in the first movie, Liu Kang will defintiely want revenge in the sequel. This will hopefully give Liu Kang more time in the spotlight in Mortal Kombat 2.

Shang Tsung's threat to Earthrealm's fighters at the end of the 2021 reboot movie suggests that he will be even more dangerous in Mortal Kombat 2.

Since Shang Tsung is seemingly working very closely with Shao Kahn in the rebooted Mortal Kombat franchise, it would make sense for him to be one of Outworld's main fighters in the tournament. After failing to kill all of Earthrealm's fighters in the first film, Shang Tsung could have a chance at redemption by defeating one of its strongest warriors. This should absolutely be Liu Kang. Including a fight between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung would make up for some errors made in the first film, and undoubtedly be very entertaining.

5 Scorpion Vs. Noob Saibot

Bi-Han Will Return As Noob Saibot In Mortal Kombat 2

Liu Kang and Shang Tsung may not have fought each other in the first film, but two other major Mortal Kombat rivals went toe to toe on two occasions. Scorpion and Sub-Zero fought each other at the beginning and end of the first Mortal Kombat movie. With the help of Cole Young, Scorpion actually managed to defeat and kill Sub-Zero at the end of the film. However, it has been confirmed that Sub-Zero, whose real name is Bi-Han, will return as Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 2.

Since Cole Young was involved in the fight at the end of the first movie, making this a one-on-one fight would give audiences a proper Scorpion versus Sub-Zero rematch.

More than likely, Quan Chi will resurrect Bi-Han as Noob Saibot in the sequel. This means that the longtime rivals will be able to face off against each other yet again. It's currently unknown if it will be confirmed to the audience or to Scorpion and the other characters that Noob Saibot is actually Bi-Han, but it would be exciting to see these two characters fight each other, nonetheless. Since Cole Young was involved in the fight at the end of the first movie, making this a one-on-one fight would give audiences a proper Scorpion versus Sub-Zero rematch.

4 Scorpion Vs. Quan Chi

Is Quan Chi Responsible For The Death Of Scorpion's Family?

If Quan Chi does bring Bi-Han back from the dead, then this would give Scorpion the perfect reason to fight the Netherrealm sorcerer in Mortal Kombat 2. At the beginning of the first movie, it is revealed that Sub-Zero killed Scorpion's family, so them being bitter rivals makes sense. However, it's possible that the sequel will reveal that there is more to this story. After all, Quan Chi is also responsible for the death of Scorpion's family in the original video game timeline.

After the events of the 2021 reboot, one major Mortal Kombat villain is definitely the most exciting character that will be introduced in the sequel.

In some Mortal Kombat games, Bi-Han is solely responsible for killing Scorpion's family, while other games reveal that Quan Chi actually hired the Lin Kuei assassin to kill them. As of now, it is unknown whether Quan Chi was involved in the deaths of Scorpion's family, but if he is, then fans should look forward to an intense fight between the two Netherrealm warriors. Scorpion and Quan Chi are both fan-favorite characters, so including this fight in Mortal Kombat 2 would be amazing.

3 Johnny Cage Vs. Baraka

Baraka Could Humble The Movie Star In Mortal Kombat 2

Johnny Cage is arguably the most exciting new character in Mortal Kombat 2. While most of the new characters in the sequel will fight for Outworld, Johnny Cage will fight for Earthrealm. It will be hilarious to see Johnny Cage react to all the fantastical elements of the Mortal Kombat franchise in the sequel, which includes Baraka, an Outworld warrior with extremely sharp teeth and blades that come out of his arms. In my opinion, there is no one better than Baraka for Johnny Cage's first opponent in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

Since Baraka is one of the most dangerous Outworld fighters, including this fight near the beginning of the movie will quickly showcase how hard the tournament will be for Johnny Cage and the other Earthrealm warriors.

If Mortal Kombat 2 faithfully depicts Johnny Cage, then he will likely be way too overconfident heading into the tournament. Therefore, he will have to be humbled very quickly if he's going to be a relatable main character in the film. Since Baraka is one of the most dangerous Outworld fighters, including this fight near the beginning of the movie will quickly showcase how hard the tournament will be for Johnny Cage and the other Earthrealm warriors.

2 Liu Kang Vs. Kitana

Liu Kang & Kitana Could Go From Enemies To Lovers

It's likely that most of the Outworld fighters in Mortal Kombat 2 won't be that friendly. However, Kitana may be an exception. Based on the cast for Mortal Kombat 2, it seems like the sequel will include the realm of Edenia, which is where Kitana is originally from. In the lore of the games, Shao Kahn invaded Edenia, killing its king in the process and taking Sindel as his wife and Kitana as his stepdaughter. However, Kitana eventually rebels against Shao Kahn and fights with Earthrealm's warriors.

Even though he was the main character in the 2021 reboot film, it seems like Lewis Tan's Cole Young may be sidelined in the Mortal Kombat 2.

It's possible that Kitana will also turn against Shao Kahn in the movie, but I wouldn't be surprised if she fought against Liu Kang first. This fight would also likely happen early in the movie and help to establish the potential connection that Liu Kang and Kitana will have. Liu Kang and Kitana are a couple in the games, so it would be interesting for them to potentially have a more playful fight in the sequel, which will show that Earthrealmers can get along with certain Outworld fighters.

1 Liu Kang Vs. Shao Kahn

Shao Kahn Will Be The Final Boss In Mortal Kombat 2

If the first movie more faithfully followed the games, then a fight between Liu Kang and Shao Kahn would be a guarantee for the sequel. However, since Liu Kang was sidelined in the first movie, it's hard to tell whether he'll end up fighting the sequel's main villain. Rather than Liu Kang, it's possible that Cole Young or even Johnny Cage will fight Shao Kahn instead. Given the underwhelming reception of the first movie, though, I think there's a chance that Liu Kang will be the one to emerge as Earthrealm's chosen champion at the end of Mortal Kombat 2.

If this does end up happening, then it would be great to see Liu Kang fight Shao Kahn in the final fight of the tournament in Mortal Kombat 2. This would undoubtedly be the most high-stakes fight of either two movies in the rebooted franchise, as Shao Kahn will be able to invade Earthrealm if he wins. More than likely, all the fighters in the tournament will be watching as Earthrealm's champion takes on Shao Kahn at the end of Mortal Kombat 2, and I really hope that champion is Liu Kang.
