Everything We Know About Mortal Kombat 2

Cole Young clenches his fists in Mortal Kombat.

While many story details for Mortal Kombat 2 remain under wraps, the film is shaping up to have an impressive cast. The first film kills off several central characters, but actor Lewis Tan is confirmed to return as Cole Young. Other returning cast include Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Tabanobu Asano as Raiden, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang. Hiroyuki Sanada may also be returning as Hanzo and Joe Taslim has been teased to return as either Sub-Zero or Noob Saibot.

As for Mortal Kombat's new cast , Urban isn't yet officially confirmed to be playing Johnny Cage, but a Mortal Kombat 2 cast photo sees the actor sporting a look very similar to the character's. Other newcomers include Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Martyn Ford as Shao Khan, Desmond Chaim as King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.

There may have been no official Mortal Kombat 2 plot details released just yet, but Ed Boon, co-creator of the video games is confirmed to be involved in the project. This suggests that the sequel could stay true to its source material and perhaps dive even deeper into the franchise's vast lore. It's also been confirmed that Mortal Kombat 2, unlike the first movie, will feature an actual tournament which, considering the large cast of characters and Baraka's inclusion, will surely be a bloody affair.
