The only thing hotter in the coming months than the summer-like temperatures is all the streaming services' new show announcements. With so many amazing shows coming out over the next few months it's definitely wise to cancel some of those outdoor plans for a night in instead. And by the looks of the line-up, the streaming wars are about to get a lot more interesting.
The best part is that there's a show for just about everyone. Fandom nerds can rejoice because some of their beloved franchises are gearing up for their small screen debut including the highly anticipated The Lord of The Rings series. There are even a plethora of teen rom-coms premiering this summer which is bound to set everyone's summer love standards extremely high.
Obi-Wan Kenobi - May 27th

When Disney and Lucasfilm announced they were creating standalone spin-off movies, fans were hopeful that their beloved Jedi Master Obi-Wan would be included. Unfortunately, that didn't happen but fans are getting something even better: a six-episode miniseries streaming exclusively on Disney+.
Set about a decade after the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) is living in exile on Tatooine where he's keeping a close eye on young Luke Skywalker. However, when Ben learns that Darth Vader is hunting down surviving Jedi he leaves Tatooine on a new adventure.
Ms. Marvel - June 8th

The Ms. Marvel. The miniseries follows Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a high school student and avid Avengers fan, especially of Captain Marvel. Kamala's struggle to fit in with her fears only gets worse when she discovers she has superheroes just like her idols.
The miniseries is set to release weekly starting on June 8th. While there are only six episodes slated for the series, fans don't need to worry because Kamala will get her feature debut next year when The Marvels is released.
The Summer I Turned Pretty - June 17th

After the success of the To All The Boys franchise, it's no surprise that best-selling author Jenny Han is seeing another one of her beloved young adult novels getting adapted, this time as a TV show. The Summer I Turned Pretty will bring Han's beloved characters to life on Amazon Prime Video starting June 17th.
The teen series is a part coming-of-age story and part romantic drama meaning it's perfect for a summer night sleepover. Set during summer break, the show follows Belly who returns to her family's beach house to reconnect with her summer friends. However, her reconnection gets complicated when she ends up in a love triangle with two brothers.
Boo Bitch - July 8th

Lana Condor is returning to Netflix this summer when her new mini-series Boo Bitch premieres on July 8th. The miniseries was created by a team of writers whose credits include Netflix's On My Block and Freeform's The Bold Type.
The miniseries will center on Condor's character who is determined to start living her best high school life after realizing she's been flying safely under the radar. After having the night of her life, she wakes up the next morning only to learn that she's been a ghost this whole time.
Resident Evil - July 14th

Resident Evil first rose to popularity in the '90s in the form of a survival horror PlayStation game. Its popularity grew in the 2000s and it is now the best-selling horror game ever. Now the franchise includes several live-action and animated movies and is being adapted into a television show by Netflix.
The story centers on Jade Wesker, a young girl who is trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world caused by a global deadly virus. Jade sets out to find out what happened to her sister while battling diseased creatures and behind haunted by her past.
Uncoupled - July 29th

Neil Patrick Harris is returning to television with the Netflix original series Uncoupled. The romantic comedy series stars Harris as Michael, a man who is living the perfect life until his husband of 17 years abruptly walks out on him. Newly single in his mid-40s, Michael must come to with dating again in New York City.
The series is created by Darren Star whose previous credits include the major Netflix hit Emily in Paris. If Uncoupled is anything like Emily in Paris then it's sure to be a fun series to binge one summer night.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law - August 17th

Disney+ is relying heavily on the MCU this summer to keep their subscriber numbers high and it seems to be working. getting tons of buzz after the trailer dropped in May 2022.
Tatiana Maslany plays Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk with Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as Bruce Banner and an incredible A-list cast rounding out the rest of the characters. The nine-part first season will follow Jennifer as she juggles her life as an attorney in her 30s who occasionally transforms into the 6 foot 7 superhero She-Hulk.
House Of The Dragon - August 21st

Game of Thrones is HBO's most successful series of recent years so it's no surprise the cable network decided to create a spin-off for its growing streaming service. The House of the Dragon will release simultaneously on HBO and HBO Max starting August 21st.
Based on George R.R. Martin's 2019 novel Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon will serve as a prequel to the beloved GoT series which occurs 200 years after the events of this series. The show will follow House Targaryen's rise including the Targaryen civil war.
The Patient - August 30th

After finding success on Apple TV's The Morning Show and Netflix's Space Force, Steve Carell is sticking with streaming television, this time working with Hulu on the FX original The Patient. Carell is set to executive produce and star as Alexander Strauss, a psychiatrist who is going through his own trama.
After losing his wife, Alexander is struggling to process his own grief despite regularly aiding his clients with their own grief. Things only get worse when Alexander gets kidnapped by a serial killer who wants help stopping his homicidal urges.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - September 2nd

Before there was Game of Thrones there was J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings which took the fantasy world by storm. Almost a decade after the last LOTR movie, the franchise is making its small screen debut on September 2nd thanks to Amazon Prime Video with the release of Lord of the Rings; The Rings of Power. However, fans should keep in mind that The Rings of Power does not have direct ties with the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit trilogies.
Set thousands of years before the events of the franchise, the series will follow all major events that took place during Middle-Earth's Second Age which included forging the Rings of Power and the last known alliance between Elves and Men.
